Lawsuit: Trump's NC campaign director pointed gun at aide
... Wednesday's lawsuit — first reported by WBTV in Charlotte — says Bordini and Phillip were traveling by car in South Carolina when the campaign director suddenly pulled out a .45 caliber handgun, the safety off and his finger on the trigger, and pressed the barrel to the staffer's kneecap....
In his lawsuit, Bordini alleges Phillip also pulled his gun on at least four other people within the Trump organization. The behavior was so widely recognized within the campaign that others knew the caliber of his gun, the lawsuit says.
"Some described Phillip as initially calm. Then, he would brandish his weapon, put its barrel against their bodies or aim it at them," the lawsuit states. "He would wait for his victims to show fear and then calmly conceal his weapon again."
The lawsuit notes that others described witnessing Phillip "yelling and screaming in anger" while he brandished his gun.
Bordini "felt he could not tell anyone about the incident due to Phillip's reputation for violent outbursts, intimidation and retaliation," according to his lawsuit.
The aide was so fearful Phillip might retaliate against him for reporting the February incident within the campaign, Bordini temporarily moved his family out of their house so they would be harder to find, the lawsuit says. Bordini, described as a "passionate" Trump supporter, says he didn't report the incident to law enforcement or go to the media because he didn't want to hurt the Republican nominee's chances of becoming president.
"Vincent forewent alerting authorities because putting Mr. Trump in the White House was his goal. But enough is enough," the lawsuit states....
Before going to work for the Trump campaign, Phillip served as the North Carolina African American State Director for the Republican National Committee. He was also appointed by North Carolina's Republican governor, Pat McCrory, to a state board that helps oversee the finances of local governments.
In a 2014 speech, Phillip was quoted as saying he did not believe President Barack Obama was either a Christian or an American citizen — and disputed whether Obama qualified as a true African American. Phillip also frequently takes aim at Democrats through social media, this week retweeting a faked photo of Clinton wearing a Muslim headscarf made of an American flag....

Who owns the wind? We do, Wyoming says, and it's taxing those who use it.

"...a project aimed at providing clean electricity to nearly a million homes in California and the Southwest..."
I like this commenter's post:

"If they own the wind, and the wind damages your property, you should be able to sue them for damages. Just makes sense, when you own something, you are liable for any damages that may occur."
I wonder if they thought of that?
And then this:
Raymond Cysst wrote:
"Wind power is already a loser, they do not recoup the millions for the turbines and their maintenance and they exist wholly on subsidies and tax incentives. I notice they do not mention the huge amount of ecological damage namely the hundreds of thousands of birds endangered and otherwise killed by these behemoth wind turbines each year."

Well, I think the state(s) should be helping, not taxing, people in alt-energy industries. However, Wyoming is not taxing "the wind" nor does it claim to own the wind. It's taxing a product made and sold by the power company, not unlike other products. Not that anything even close to accuracy matters anymore.

Re: Wingnutties out of control!
Bingo! The point of my posting the story. The article suggests, as you pointed out, that Wyoming is taxing the wind, rather than the product. The first commenter failed to see that as well in his comment about wind damage.O Really wrote: Wyoming is not taxing "the wind" nor does it claim to own the wind. Hence, the posting of this in the wingnut thread.

Yup. Fox News encouraged it all the way. Fox and others painted any Republican wanting to act like an adult as a RINO traitor. They came down like a ton of bricks on Newt Gingrich during his 2012 campaign for stating that Republicans needed to negotiate with Democrats on the budget (as has always been done.) As I've mentioned before, Fox News has discovered that impotent right-wing rage is lucrative. Far more lucrative when Democrats are in power.PACs found anger at the Republican Party sells very well. The campaigns they ran would be headlined “Boot John Boehner," or “Drop a Truth Bomb on Kevin McCarthy.” And after Boehner was in fact booted and McCarthy bombed in his bid to succeed him, it was naturally time to “Fire Paul Ryan."
And then Republican establishment insider Ted Cruz campaigned on being anti-Republican establishment. And he and others started a movement to replace any elected Republicans they declared RINOs. Which meant any non-Tea Party Republicans.
And so here's where I find the article misleading:
The article gives the impression that it was outsiders looting the Tea Party Movement. In reality its creators and insiders were looting it first. Fox News. Ted Cruz. Sarah Palin and Ron Paul in 2012 with their fake 2012 presidential runs, raking in money with their SuperPACs.

87% is only a *bit* high. But, according to an investigation by POLITICO, 87 percent of that “investment” went to overhead; only $910,000 of the $6.7 million raised was used to support political candidates.
25 year ago I wrote software for a charity telemarketing company. We took a flat 60% of the funds raised, sending 40% to the charity. (Which no doubt used some of that for its own overhead.) Our 60% paid the rent on the building, the telephone bills, and the wages of those doing the calling and people like me. At 60% we were greatly undercutting the competition. Some were as high as 80%.
But even then we often lost money. Especially since charities were often run by well-meaning amateurs. If the Family Farm Assistance Fund messed up the government paperwork, we couldn't collect the money pledged to us over the phone. But we still had to pay the callers and phone bills.
Still, the public was getting more knowledgeable, and more people were asking and complaining about how much went to fundraising companies.
And so not long after I left - the software was complete - they restructured. Now the owners and callers would sign on as employees of the charity for the duration of any fundraising campaign. There would be the same overhead and now the charity was taking on the risks.
But now they could honestly say that 100% of the money went to the charity.

Re: Wingnutties out of control!
Worth repeating after Trump's policy update today:
Of course Americans themselves wouldn't qualify, what with the American president and Secretary of State having founded ISIS. And the Bushes granting safe harbor to those who have bombed hotels, foreign embassies and even a passenger airliner.rstrong wrote:Doonesbury nicely sums up the stupidity of the Republican/Fox News position on refugees...
That rules out Trump and many around him."The government would use questionnaires, social media, interviews with friends and family or other means to determine if applicants support American values like tolerance and pluralism."
A withdrawal negotiated and agreed to by Bush II. The Iraqi government refused to alter the agreement. Obama had no choice in the matter. He specifically highlighted the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq in late 2011, arguing the move created a vacuum for terror groups to thrive.
Oh dear. We've had a few US-originated terrorist attacks here in Canada. Does that mean that Canada is a "terror country" or the US?Trump had promised to release his list of "terror countries" soon.
