Good to see them still kicking, even if it is a bit slower. Here's the '77 version. How did those guys get so old and the rest of us are still young?GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:31 amNot exactly live, but they still got it. A little disconcerting that Pete was sitting but it was an acoustic show.
The Who took offered The Late Show audience a special rendition of the band’s 1971 hit single “Behind Blue Eyes,” filmed during a March all-acoustic charity gig to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall

Re: The Music Thread
I don't think I'd go to the 2022 tour. I saw their "last" concert in Toronto, then again in 1989 and 2000 in Florida. The '89 concert was probably the best concert I've ever been to - ever. 2000 still good, but not so much. I like to keep memories intact and not besmirched by the reality of aging. I've seen a few other acts that in retrospect I wish I hadn't seen, including Willie Nelson and CCR. It's not often you get somebody like Tony Bennett that sounds the same at 90ish.
Edit: I noticed The Who will be at the New Orleans JazzFest. If I was going to that (for what would be my, I think, 6th time), I'd definitely want to see them. Outdoors at JazzFest, with enough hurricanes, crawfish bread, gumbo and etouffee, everybody sounds great.

Having it be a necessity to wear earplugs at a concert seems a little counterintuitive to enjoying a show.O Really wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 11:43 amI don't think I'd go to the 2022 tour. Well, there's that. In their '89 concert, we were in the fourth row and didn't wear earplugs. Didn't hear anything for a few days after, though. Actually, Pete is pretty much stone deaf.

My concert experiences tend to be on the milder side: jazz, folk music, classical. Earplugs generally not needed.
Then there are those who seem to wear over-the-ear headphones 7x24. I prefer listening to the rain, wind, weather, birds, water, animals. Then again, I'm no longer subjected to machine shop or construction noise 40+ hours/week. PTL.

Nice! Love the segue from The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Some of the commenters think the judges were in on it. Idk, their surprise looked genuine to me. Queen still rocks. Not shown in this clip:
Guy stands up at the piano and apologizes to Simon…
“This happens every time I play!!”
I had to double check that it wasn't Germany or Austria. Pretty radical song for a shopping mall.

1976 Eagles in concert "Take it to the Limit" with Randy - singing it the way it should be done. Watch it, download to your DVD if you've got 'em. YouTube keeps pulling this version because of Eagles lawyers, so see it while you can. Sound is a little off the video, though, but not enough to ruin it.

I think I have that song on vinyl.
Yup, on their Greatest Hits album, circa 1976.

Smooth.
You weren't born yet when I saw Kenny Loggins (with Jim Messina) in concert.

Hm, that reminds me of . . . somebody.

"Since the start of this unique project,” writes the Society, “more than 350 of the total of 1080 works by Johann Sebastian Bach have been performed and recorded in special ways” in this attempt to “share Bach’s music with the whole world” through “excellent audio visual recordings of the highest quality.” These performances include settings very like the originals, if very far away in time: “Cantatas are filmed in a church, for instance, and chamber music at the musician’s homes.” They also include highlights such as the Six Cello Suites at the Rijksmuseum and Brandenburg Concert no. 4 at Felix Maritis.

America was a better place when we were guided by disembodied beards at the beach.
i guess if the beach party movie genre wasn't dead by then this killed it
The shorts on the lifeguard are pretty traumatizing too
And we (boomers) pick on the twerkers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't surfing movies be at a beach with waves?
Ginger! For Those Who Think Young (1964).
... Bob Denver plays his sidekick, “Kelp.” Another thing to love about these surfer movies, the absurd nicknames!
... This club also features a burlesque dancer named Topaz McQueen (Tina Louise).
I loved Paul Lynde! One day, Woody and his comic partner, Sid Hoyt (Paul Lynde) find themselves out of work.
Probably not her Academy Award-winning role.... The university even goes as far as to send their Professor of Sociology (Ellen Burstyn, billed in this film as “Ellen McRae”) to observe. She gets drunk on two spiked “fruit juices” but ends up giving her seal of approval to the establishment anyway.
He should have done that on the Island, too.... Nancy Sinatra (Frank’s daughter) and Claudia Martin (Dean’s daughter) provide additional support in this film. There is a bizarre musical number in this film that features Bob Denver’s chin.
