I'm more behinder than you - I didn't know who he was.
But there does seem to be an intellectual disconnect in saying "not serious ... going to be hospitalized." Are hospitals letting in and insurance companies paying for not-serious people now?
No, too much risk to the truly not-serious people.
“There’s a concern about my oxygen saturation levels, which are at 89 and they should be at 95,” West wrote.

“My chest X-rays do show COVID pneumonia, not serious. I am probably going to be admitted to the hospital.”
Both are automatically serious.
... Earlier in the day, West had tweeted that after his wife tested positive on Friday he developed “a low grade fever and light body aches” and added that he was “already taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin protocols”—two ineffective drugs popular with the anti-vaxxer crowd.
COVIDiot.
... After the initial tweet, the Twitter account posted a clarification to make clear that while his wife had gotten the vaccine, he had refused it.
COVIDiot.
... The revelation that he was feeling poorly after exposure to an infected person came a day-and-a-half after he spoke at the gala for Mission Generation, an evangelical organization. A tweet about his appearance noted the event was “packed”—and a photo showed West and the crowd were unmasked....
Religion is unhealthy.

Probably so if you are rich, politically connected and because he's a vet, he can now take up a spot in any hospital.

I think we may have you beat. We have a no mask policy in schools; however, students may "opt-in", but only with their parents signed permission.

Yeah, that beats TN. Maybe FL should institute a mandate that everyone wear a Halloween type kids mask that looks like trump. They'd probably go for that. And trump would be ecstatic about it.

90,000 U.S. adult deaths from COVID-19 over the summer could have been prevented if victims had been vaccinated, study finds

... It found that about half of that death toll occurred in September, when the highly transmissible delta variant was spreading fast, but many places had eased public health measures like face-mask wearing and a large number of young adults were not vaccinated. COVID was the leading cause of death for adults aged 35 to 54 in that month — ahead of heart disease and cancer....

The U.S. is still averaging almost 1,900 deaths a day, according to a New York Times tracker, meaning every two days, it suffers casualties equal to those lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. And while new cases and hospitalizations have been declining, there are still hot spots such as Alaska and Minnesota, where hospitals are struggling to cope with the sick....

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine tracker is showing that 187.9 million Americans are fully vaccinated, equal to about 57% of the population and well below the 70% deemed necessary to stop the spread. The data show that 8.9 million people have received a booster, and that more people are getting a booster every day than primary shots....

Latest tallies

The global tally for the coronavirus-borne illness climbed above 239.4 million on Thursday, while the death toll edged above 4.87 million, according to data aggregated by Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. continues to lead the world with a total of 44.7 million cases and 719,822 deaths.

India is second by cases after the U.S. at 34 million and has suffered 451,435 deaths. Brazil has the second highest death toll at 601,574 and 21.6 million cases....

Meanwhile two SF Bay Area counties are fixing to roll back their mask mandates. The critical factor is achieving an 80% (I think!) vaccination rate. I believe Marin County is there already, SF soon to follow. Or vice verse. Not sure if the roll back is complete or partial. My county will take a bit longer to get to the magic number.

On the opposite side of the country:
A Florida school says students who get vaxxed must stay home for 30 days due to unfounded claim that they'll infect others

A private school in Miami, Florida, is requiring students who get vaccinated to quarantine at home for 30 days after each dose.

"Because of the potential impact on other students and our school community, vaccinated students will need to stay at home for 30 days post-vaccination for each dose and booster they receive and may return to school after 30 days as long as the student is healthy and symptom-free," a letter sent out to parents of students at the Centner Academy says, according to local news outlet WSVN....

One infectious disease expert who spoke with WSVN characterized that belief as "science fiction."

... None of the approved COVID-19 vaccines in the US "contain the live virus that causes COVID-19," a myth page published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reads. "This means that a COVID-19 vaccine cannot make you sick with COVID-19." ...

Meanwhile, in the upper Midwest Sen Johnson the johnson is at it again:
MSNBC Panel Torches Sen. Ron Johnson For Spreading Yet Another Conspiracy Theory

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) was roundly condemned by an MSNBC panel Sunday for spreading dangerous conspiracy theories about COVID-19 vaccines and treatments on Fox News.

The Republican senator told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on air Sunday morning that coronavirus vaccines are “experimental” and that ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug, is not being promoted as a COVID-19 treatment because there’s “not money in it.” Neither of these statements is true.

“What in the entire ― What’s he talking about?” MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart asked.

Jennifer Rubin, a conservative political columnist for the Washington Post, characterized his comments as “complete crap.”

“He never used to be this insane. He was a businessman and for years, he operated like a kind of fiscal conservative, sort of normal Republican,” she said. But no more. He has jumped upon the Trump train, and let me be perfectly clear ... he is killing people.”

“People listen to them. They are dissuaded from taking a life-saving vaccine. He is contributing to death. He is not pro-life. He’s helping to kill people, and he should be ashamed,” she added.

Ted Cruz blasted Australia’s COVID rules. A top Australian official didn’t hold back

The chief minister of the Northern Territory of Australia responded Monday to comments made by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz about the country’s strict rules to protect against COVID-19.

The territory announced last week that workers who interact with the public must receive their first vaccination shot by Nov. 12 or face a $5,000 fine, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported. About 68% of its residents were already fully vaccinated as of Sunday.

The mandate got a harsh response from Cruz, a senator who has often lashed out against COVID-19 polices in the United States. He tweeted that he has “always said Australia is the Texas of the Pacific” because of its “rugged independence,” so he was disheartened by the new rules in the territory.

“The Covid tyranny of their current government is disgraceful & sad,” the Texas senator said Wednesday. “Individual liberty matters. I stand with the people of #Australia.”

He’s now gotten a response from Michael Gunner, the chief minister of the Northern Territory. Gunner told Cruz that Australia does not need his lectures because “you know nothing about us.”

He presented ”some facts” as to how the his territory has responded to the pandemic.

“Nearly 70,000 Texans have tragically died from COVID,” Gunner said in a statement. “There have been zero deaths in the Territory. Did you know that?”

“Vaccination is so important here because we have vulnerable communities and the oldest continuous living culture on the planet to protect. Did you know that” Gunner continued.

Data from the country’s health department shows the Northern Territory has had 226 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. The territory has a population of around 247,000.

Despite the Northern Territory’s success against COVID-19, other parts of Australia have seen cases rise since July after an early triumph over the virus. The country with a population of 25.8 million has an estimated 27,318 active cases of the virus, while Texas and its population of 29 million residents has an estimated 149,149 active cases, according to the respective country and state health departments....

“I love Texas (go Longhorns), but when it comes to COVID, I’m glad we are nothing like you,” Gunner said....

Shouldn't be surprising to anyone who has seen any of my posts on the issue. SD County has had a high rate of vaccination since it became available. Despite the occasional group of whiners, and the random rogue business owner, there was always a high rate of mask compliance. I'm sure you could dig some anti-vaxxers out of the corners and some anti-maskers among the whiny mommy crowd, but they don't get any traction.
