Birthers created the issue because they didn't like the black guy. White Kenyans, Canadians, or Panamanians are fine.
But seriously, nobody ever believed Obama wasn't eligible to run or that he wasn't born in Hawaii. They found a wedge issue that they could use to create a negative controversy.

WingNutDaily WorldNetDaily has been birther central since the beginning. Given their record of attacking even Republican Presidents, it's seems likely that they prepared their early birthers articles to attack John McCain (neither born on American soil nor an American citizen at birth), and edited them to attack Obama once he was ahead in the polls.O Really wrote:Birthers created the issue because they didn't like the black guy. Re: The Question Thread
Here's some information that many of you may not have known, I didn't but I find it to be right useful. Have you ever gotten irritated when you wanted to type a ¢ symbol or a degree symbol, such as 100° ? I remember that keyboards used to have a ¢ symbol, but don't anymore. You might want to print this page off and save it.
To type a symbol hold down the alt key and type the number that corresponds with the symbol. Note: You must use the numbers pad, not the numbers at the top of the keyboard. Happy typing! That was free, no hate, bitching, or Vredeism involved. Oh, BTW, since Vrede is long departed, someone tell him I said hi. ☻

I'm honestly interested: Which keyboards had them?homerfobe wrote:I remember that keyboards used to have a ¢ symbol, but don't anymore.
A quick look at the venerable IBM 5150 (shipped with the original IBM PC) as well as the Commodore CBM, Apple II+ and IIe and my 1978-era Challenger 1P shows that they don't have the ¢ symbol. (The Commodore has the British pound symbol.)

Re: The Question Thread
I don't recall any keyboard having a cents symbol (my personal experience goes back to the HP-85). But I figure the fact that my Acer has a Euro symbol and no cents symbol is enough to drive at least a few right-lemmings over the cliff.

I wondered about that myself; I remember my typewriter having a ¢ symbol; I wonder if that's what he meant? Yup. I used it heavily in the DOS days. Since then I've usually used the Character Map utility in Windows Accessories.Mr.B wrote:Just curious...did y'all know about that alt key thingy? That's neat.

Re: The Question Thread
Who'da thunk all those symbols existed? Strange part being that there's number pad selections for letters of the alphabet that are already on the keyboard. Ha! If one could memorize the number pad sequences, he would only need an 'alt' key and the number pad. No thanks!rstrong wrote:Yup. I used it heavily in the DOS days. Frontier Airlines
If my eyes are not deceiving me, I've found a flight through Frontier Airlines to Philly for ~120 bucks leaving out of Charlotte. I've never heard of this airline, and I'm not sure how it's possible the flight is so cheap. Have any of you guys flown with them? Is this legit? Are the airplanes leftovers from the 1920's or something?

Re: The Question Thread
Go for it. In the 1980s I caught a $19 flight from Oregon to San Francisco on a start-up airline, which Frontier is not. It was full of youth going to party for the weekend. Best flight ever! We ran them out of all of the free booze except the white wine.

Frontier is a real airline. Don't expect frills. I think a reserved seat might be a frill. Might not be fun, but they're legit.

Republic was one of our clients back when they bought Frontier, and I did some work with them on consolidating some labor issues. Never took a trip with them, though. Like I said, don't expect fun or convenience, but if price is your ticket, gofer it - just beware of the "extras"

$120 each way, that's $240. Reserved seat each way $20 unless you want to sit somewhere in the ass end next to some squalling brat. One checked bag up to 40 pounds, $50 each way--$100. One carry-on up to 20 pounds $15 each way---$30. Total round trip so far $390. Plus you got to drive to Charlotte and back, have someone take you and pick you up or you'll pay through the ass for parking. They got you ass end over teakettle any way you turn. Have a safe trip!JTA wrote:They have a bunch of random fees for things like carry-ons it seems.O Really wrote:Frontier is a real airline. Don't expect frills. Re: The Question Thread
That was round trip! The days I want to go though it'd be 190 round trip. With baggage fees and stuff I was better off just going with another airline, which was still pretty cheap even with the drive to Charlotte and leaving my car. Usually it's about 45 to stay parked a week. Still, I'm saving about a 140 bucks with the drive, parking, gas factored in if I leave out of Charlotte.homerfobe wrote:JTA wrote:If my eyes are not deceiving me, I've found a flight through Frontier Airlines to Philly for ~120 bucks leaving out of Charlotte. A TV report about the 2 NY prison escapees described them as "ruthless killers". Does that mean everyone else has ruth?
