Murder case dropped after man serves 25 years in prison

I don't know if it's legally defensible, but my opinion is that a new crime occurs each day that the wrongly convicted stays in prison. The clock on the statute of limitations shouldn't start until the day of exoneration.

... Interestingly, the article didn't say the statute of limitations had been reached, only that "too much time" had gone by....

It's just my assumption. Besides murder, are any statutes of limitations 25 years or longer? If it's just laziness and defeatism on the part of the prosecutors, that's even worse. At the least, I'd like to see the liars' names outed.

In Michigan, for felonies, murder: none; kidnapping, extortion, assault with intent or conspiracy to murder: 10 yrs.; others: 6 yrs. No specific mention of perjury, railroading or prosecution for being black, so it looks like the cops are safe. Probably the city is safe from civil suit now, also, unless they could manage to count each appeal and each request for review to be a new incident of willfully keeping an innocent person jailed. Long shot. I'd probably focus on getting my 1.25 mill and living the rest of my life.

I don't know what I would do - let it slide or somehow go after the bastards. One can live a life while letting the investigators and lawyers do their thing, but some wrongs are best left entirely in the past. I wonder if any of the liars are still working and whether decades of other cases they were involved in will now be scrutinized.

Interim Worth County Superintendent Lawrence Walters said he understands parents concerns about the drug search at Worth County High school on Friday, according to WALB.

“I’ve never been involved with anything like that ever in the past 21 years and I don’t condone it,” said Walters.

Walters said he was notified that there was be a search but pointed out that he did not give permission nor did he approve the mass groping of children.


“We did not give permission but they didn’t ask for permission, he just said, the sheriff, that he was going to do it after spring break,” said Walters.

“Under no circumstances did we approve touching any students,” explained Walters.
