Ms Duvall made a speech on Monday night local time at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago that included horrific details about her childhood.

She told a shocked audience that she fell pregnant after being sexually assaulted by her stepfather for years. She was given a pregnancy test that showed she was pregnant....

“At age 12, I took my first pregnancy test. It was positive. That was the first time I was ever told, ‘you have options’.”

During her speech, she called out Republican nominee for vice president in the 2024 presidential election JD Vance and Donald Trump, who have both been vocal about states determining their own abortion laws.

“I can’t imagine not having a choice, but today that is a reality for many women and girls across the country because of Donald Trump’s abortion bans. He calls it a beautiful thing but what is so beautiful about a child having to carry her parents’ child?” Ms Duvall demanded to know.

“There are other survivors out there who have no options. And I want you to know that we see you, we hear you.

“Kamala Harris will sign a national law to restore the right to an abortion. She will fight for every woman and every girl, even those who are not fighting for her.”...



... Since she took to the stage, thousands of women have flooded Ms Duvall’s social media to thank her for what she spoke about.

“I saw you speak at the DNC and am amazed at your bravery! No child should have to go through what you did,” one said.

Another said: “My daughter is almost 12 and your story and this photo shattered my heart. Your bravery and courage is inspirational. Thank you for using your story for good. Bless you.”

I've probably mentioned this before, Steve Kerr has quite the life story.

Kerr was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to Malcolm H. Kerr, a Lebanese-born American academic, and his wife Ann Kerr (née Zwicker), a California-born academic, both of whom specialized in the Middle East.[1] He has three siblings.[2] His grandfather, Stanley Kerr, volunteered with the Near East Relief after the Armenian genocide and rescued women and orphans in Aleppo and Marash before eventually settling in Beirut.[3] Kerr spent much of his childhood in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries. While in Beirut in the summer of 1983, he met a number of US Marines who were later killed in the Beirut barracks bombings.[4] Kerr attended Cairo American College in Egypt, the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon, and Palisades High School (now Palisades Charter High School) in Los Angeles, graduating in 1983.

Malcolm Kerr was killed by members of the Islamic Jihad on January 18, 1984 at the age of 52 while he was serving as president of the American University of Beirut.[5][6][7][8] He was shot twice in the back of his head by gunmen using suppressed handguns in the hallway outside his office.[2][6][7][8] Steve was only 18 years old at the time, and a college freshman;[5] regarding his father's death, Kerr has said: "Before my father was killed, my life was impenetrable. Bad things happened to other people."[1] Ann Kerr married Kenneth Coogan Adams in December 2008, becoming Ann Kerr-Adams.[4] Kenneth Adams died on September 12, 2017.[9]

But the event in Howell has attracted particular attention because of the town's association with the Ku Klux Klan. The town has historical links to the KKK: In the 1970s, Grand Dragon Robert Miles had a Howell mailing address and held meetings on a nearby farm.

About a dozen white supremacists chanted "Heil Hitler" and carried signs reading "White Lives Matter" during a march through downtown Howell last month. According to local media, another group of demonstrators shouted, "We love Hitler, we love Trump" from a highway overpass just outside Howell.
