Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Georgia man kills armadillo, but ricochet gunshot hits mother-in-law

LEESBURG, Ga. - Authorities say a south Georgia man shot an armadillo, but ended up accidentally wounding his mother-in-law when the bullet ricocheted off the mammal known for its hard shell.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies tell WALB-TV that 54-year-old Larry McElroy fired his 9 mm pistol at the armadillo Sunday night.

Deputies say the bullet killed the armadillo, but bounced off the animal, hit a fence, traveled through the back door of the mother-in-law's mobile home and the recliner in which she was sitting, striking her in the back....

No way he could have done that intentionally - or for that matter could reasonably known the shot would ricochet from the armadillo. That may be the first instance I'm willing to give an authentic "opps" defense. On the other hand, what's he shooting an armadillo for in the first place? Where's PETA when you need them.

But the idea that a shotgun would have been better is ridiculous. If a nine bounces off, the armadillo wouldn't have even noticed the shotgun impact. He'd just think Cheney was in the area.

Obviously he didn't use large enough caliber. A 45-90 would have done it good.

Senate gun bill allows unrestricted concealed carry
I think unrestricted is an over reach. It says the one bill would require more training costing up a thousand dollars. Also the part about someone being disqualified because they may have been counseled after a death or a divorce should be changed.
I didn't know each county was different with pistol purchase permit, here if you have a carry permit you by-pass the sheriff but I see in some counties not so.

George Zimmerman involved in Florida shooting
"According to WESH, the shooting involved two men and Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital.

"The injuries are not serious," Lake Mary Deputy Police Chief Colin Morgan said.

"I don't know exactly what precipitated it, but another motorist pulled up alongside him and fired a shot at him," Zimmerman's attorney Don West said. "I believe that the window of the vehicle was broken. As I understand it he was shot through the passenger window and the bullet narrowly missed his head and lodged the roof."

Morgan said the other man reportedly has been involved in other cases with Zimmerman in the past.

He added that Zimmerman will be brought to the police station when he leaves the hospital."
Took it from FUX so the wingnuts have less to whine about.
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

So how many people do any of you know personally who have shot and killed anybody? And been arrested more than once for domestic violence. And been involved in road rage incidents. Does anybody think it's time even for those who have no problem with a black kid in a hoodie getting killed to admit that Zimmerman is a bit of a loose cannon with aggressive violent tendencies?

Zimmerman does titillate the news media, doesn't he.....

Personally, I think the world is just totally pissed that he got off and is following him around waiting for him to make a
wrong move so as to re-kindle a racial incident. No one had ever heard of George Zimmerman or his deeds prior to the shooting of Martin.

If I understood the news story, the one who shot at Zimmerman appeared to be one such a person.

If I were Zimmerman, I too would be packing some protection.

Breaking news: All but one of the more than 190 people that were arrested after a shootout between rival motorcycle gangs left nine bikers dead in Waco have been released. Police have announced that after the sole remaining arrestee fired the rest were merely standing their ground under Texas law.
