Not sure WNC should be forgiven anytime soon for this mistake.

"forgiven ... mistake"??? WNC Repug faces should regularly be rubbed in their intentional act of treason, and Cawthorn must be locked up.

If members of Congress aided Capitol attack, they should be prosecuted: Pelosi

Alleged Capitol rioters argue Trump invited them in. They want pardons

Perhaps it's too much of a leap, but could these traitors be forced to testify that 45SHOLE incited them and would any pardons he issued be deemed an illegal attempt to conceal his own crimes?

NJ Army Reservist With Security Clearance Busted for Capitol Riots

A U.S. Army reservist with a secret-level security clearance and “access to a variety of munitions”—described in court papers as a white supremacist and Nazi sympathizer—has been charged with taking part in the violent Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Timothy Louis Hale-Cusanelli of Colts Neck, New Jersey, works as a contractor at Naval Weapons Station Earle, which is also in Colts Neck, according to an FBI affidavit filed last week.

He now faces five federal counts: knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority; disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; disrupting the orderly conduct of government business; parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building; and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Naval Weapons Station Earle is the operational support base for four Military Sealift Command combat logistics ships: USNS Arctic, USNS Robert E. Peary, USNS William McLean, and USNS Medgar Evers.

At least 22 present or former members of the U.S. military or law enforcement have now been accused of taking part in the Capitol riot, according to the Associated Press. The first U.S. military member to be arrested for their participation in the deadly riot was Jacob Fracker, a Virginia police officer and current Army National Guardsman.

Hale-Cusanelli, who does not have a lawyer listed in court records and could not be reached for comment, was outed by a confidential source to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) on Jan. 12, six days after the deadly siege. A charging document filed by prosecutors says Hale-Cusanelli showed the source videos on his cell phone of himself “making harassing and derogatory statements toward Capitol Police officers both inside and outside the Capitol building.”

“During our meeting on January 12, 2021, the [source] reported to me that Hale-Cusanelli is an avowed white supremacist and Nazi sympathizer who posts video opinion statements on YouTube proffering extreme political opinions and viewpoints under the title the ‘Based Hermes Show,’” NCIS Special Agent Daniel J. Meyers wrote in an affidavit.

“Prior to traveling to the rally and protest on January 6, 2021, Hale-Cusanelli wrote ‘Trust the plan, it’s the final countdown, stay tuned next episode,’ and ‘Trust the plan, major announcement soon.’”

... Many of Hale-Cusanelli’s “Based Hermes” content has been removed from the internet, but some of it remains available. In one April 2020 video, Hale-Cusanelli, as Based Hermes, rails against Jews and references the “Boogaloo,” a slang term used by white supremacists for the second civil war they claim to be fomenting....

And Brandon Fellows, an upstate New York resident, is facing charges for his role in the Capitol riots after giving an interview from the scene to CNN.

“We took the Capitol and it was glorious,” Fellows allegedly wrote on Facebook according to an FBI affidavit.
We busted Brandon Fellows and scores of other traitors, and it is glorious.

Mom of ‘zip tie guy’ arrested for her role in US Capitol insurrection, feds say

Crappy genes in that family.

Far-right figure "Baked Alaska" arrested for involvement in Capitol siege

The FBI arrested far-right media figure Tim Gionet, known as "Baked Alaska," on Saturday for his involvement in last week's Capitol riot, according to a statement of facts filed in the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.'

The state of play: Gionet was arrested in Houston on charges related to disorderly or disruptive conduct on the Capitol grounds or in any of the Capitol buildings with the intent to impede, disrupt, or disturb the orderly conduct of a session, per AP.

An Arizona judge issued a warrant for Gionet's arrest on Thursday, saying he violated his conditions of release when he left the state to join the riot in D.C., the Arizona Republic reports. Gionet was facing misdemeanor charges in Scottsdale for allegedly pepper-spraying an employee after refusing to leave a bar.

Gionet allegedly conducted an approximately 27-minute livestream inside the Capitol and was heard chanting, "Patriots are in control;" "Whose house? Our house;" and "Traitors, traitors, traitors." ...
:wtf: His mere presence in DC was criminal and he put the evidence on the internet himself. Whatever happens with the federal charges it is now certain that he will be jailed until the Scottsdale case is concluded. Moron.

Is he related to our Baked Potato?

Virginia Man Arrested At D.C. Checkpoint With Gun, 500 Rounds Of Ammo: Reports

... Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, was arrested after he allegedly presented officers with what was described as an unauthorized inauguration credential, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

“The Suspect presented a non-government issued credential, and the officers observed a handgun in plain sight in the Suspect’s vehicle,” Capitol Police said in a statement Saturday. “A search of the vehicle also found numerous rounds of ammunition. ”

Beeler told police he was carrying a Glock semiautomatic pistol in the center armrest of his vehicle, which was loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition and a round in the chamber ready to fire, a law enforcement source told CNN.

Beeler also had 509 rounds for the pistol and 21 shotgun shells in the vehicle, a Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by The New York Times said.

Beeler’s family told The Washington Post that the arrest was a misunderstanding and that Beeler works in private security. Police spotted bumper stickers on the suspect’s vehicle including one that read “Assault Life” and another that read, “If they come for your guns, giv ’em your bullets first,” according to The Post....

Beeler has been charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition.

True that.
And yeah, I know they're dangerous and can set off homemade bombs and shoot people, but c'mon - why must we build them up into some massive force, making them much larger than life? Reminds me of the "Elite Republican Guard" Saddam Hussein had, that turned and ran like roaches against US forces. These guys are tuff stuff against outmanned and mostly unarmed Capitol cops, but even so pretty much retreated without a fight. (not that that's a bad thing), but I'm thinking ISIS/al qaeda/taliban guys wouldn't have left until they got killed. They're posers. Dangerous posers, but posers still. Treat them like the terrorists they are, round them up and charge them with everything reasonably possible. Convict them with something that will take away their legal right to guns. Maybe send them to Guantanamo. Want to be an insurgent? There's a price to pay. Maybe they'd head back to their mothers' basements.

I think that probably the best thing is for us to suffer with him until the 2020 cycle because (1) if Trump is kicked out, he is probably right that there would be fierce backlash from the rabid core of his followers; this would also serve to unite all manner of wingnuts to the cause as well, resulting in more of a mess than we have. (2) if Trump is kicked out, we then have Pence, who is a pig in a poke at best and a lobotomized automaton in any case. It's basically the biggest "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation ever.
IMNVHO:

1. We should follow the law and Constitution, not cave in to terrorist threats.
2. IF Trump is kicked out it will only be because his crimes are so great and undeniable that 20 or so GOP Senators voted to convict.
3. Many supposed Trumpettes are really bots, Russians and paid Repug shills.
4. #2 will persuade and/or dishearten many of the sincere Trumpettes.
5. Radical actions by the minority wingnuts will further persuade decent America that #1 is the right course, and will damage the GOP for a long, long time. Plus, many of the terrorists will be killed or imprisoned, a good thing.
6. VP Q-tip is going down, too, if not for collusion definitely for the obstruction and coverup. 'POTUS Pelosi' kinda rolls off the tongue.
7. If it is POTUS Q-tip, he will be a largely impotent caretaker POTUS.
8. If it is POTUS Q-tip and since he's probably not clinically insane, he will compromise with the Dems in order to give some meaning to his brief and non-electable to a new term presidency.

All that said, I don't think that 20 or so GOP Senators will ever have the balls for #2.

Hours after Amazon effectively scrubbed it from the internet, conservative social media network Parler is taking stumbling steps toward a relaunch.

Parler filed suit Monday against Amazon in federal court in Seattle, contending the cloud-computing services provider violated antitrust law and breached the terms of its contract when it pulled the plug on Parler in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. That day, mobs loyal to President Donald Trump breached congressional chambers to demand lawmakers overturn the presidential election. Parler asked the judge for a temporary restraining order that would allow it to keep using Amazon’s web-hosting services.

The same day, Parler transferred its domain name to Sammamish-based Epik, which hosts the similar far-right social media network Gab.

That’s not to say Parler lives again: The conservative Twitter competitor will still need to migrate its operations to a new hosting provider.

And Parler’s suit against Amazon got off to a bumbling start. The social network filed a day late, obviating its request for a temporary restraining order. Nor did it serve Amazon with its complaint, as court rules require. The judge ordered Parler to serve Amazon with the complaint before 5 p.m. Monday or risk having the case thrown out. As of 7 p.m. Monday, it remained unclear whether Parler had complied.
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/t ... evue-firm/
Parler's CEO fled his home and went into hiding after receiving death threats and security breaches, a court filing says

I don't support the tactic, but what's good for the goose . . .
... Amazon Web Services stopped hosting Parler after it said the platform had violent content that was tied to the January 6 siege at the US Capitol. In its own court filing last week, Amazon alleged that Parler was both unwilling and unable to remove "content that threatens the public safety, such as by inciting and planning the rape, torture, and assassination of named public officials and private citizens."

... Five people died, including a Capitol Police officer and a woman who was shot by law-enforcement officials while participating in the riot.

Trump's Twitter account was subsequently suspended and conservatives urged their followers to join Parler afterward. The app jumped to No. 1 on Apple's App Store before the company pulled it. Google also yanked Parler from its store.

AWS said Parler "poses a very real risk to public safety," when it stopped hosting it....

Bloomberg reported earlier this week that Amazon said Parler users were threatening their staff....
I found this:
Parler: Moderation

... In June and July 2020, Parler banned a spate of left-wing accounts, including parody accounts and accounts that were critical of Parler or the prevailing viewpoints on the service. Mic wrote that Parler had used the personal information provided during signup to ban those they'd identified as "teenage leftists"; Will Duffield of the Cato Institute wrote that Matze had also apparently instituted a blanket ban on antifa supporters. After a surge in popularity among conservatives in November 2020, The Independent noted that Parler had again been accused of removing left-leaning users and removing content that contradicted or was critical of popular opinions expressed there. In January 2021, Ethan Zuckerman and Chand Rajendra-Nicolucci wrote in a report for the Knight First Amendment Institute that Parler's invitation on its front page, "Speak freely and express yourself openly, without fear of being 'deplatformed' for your views", "often isn’t borne out in reality as Parler regularly bans trolls who hold opposing viewpoints"....

Bombshell report links Trump insiders to Washington rally that led to Capitol riots
Trump campaign team had said that they did not ‘organise, operate or finance’ the 6 January rally

At least three people from the campaign team of Donald Trump allegedly played a key role in organising the rally in Washington that culminated in a deadly assault on the US Capitol building, belying the campaign’s claim that they did “organise, operate or finance” the event.

Among those associated was Maggie Mulvaney, the niece of former acting White House chief of staff , Mick Mulvaney, found an investigation by the Associated Press....

In a statement to AP, the campaign insisted no staff member were involved in the organisation or operation of the rally and former employees who participated, “did not do so at the direction of the Trump campaign.”

... However, among the others associated with Mr Trump’s re-election campaign who were linked to the rally, were Megan Powers and Caroline Wren. Ms Powers was listed as one of the two operation managers for the 6 January event with her LinkedIn profile saying that she was Trump campaign’s director of operations in to January 2021.

Ms Wren is a veteran Republican fundraiser and was named as a “VIP Advisor” on the permit. She was the national finance consultant for Trump Victory, which is a joint fundraising committee between the president’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee and was being paid $20,000 a month from mid-March to mid-November last year, according to the FEC records.

Capitol rioters taking selfies leave digital trail of 140,000 images under FBI investigation
Rioter pictured with Nancy Pelosi's lectern among those identified through social media

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been able to track down Donald Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol thanks to the selfies and videos they took inside the Capitol – with some 140,000 images and videos posted online.

According to court documents seen by Bloomberg, many rioters went on to share videos and pictures on social media after the 6 January attack on the Capitol, and in the process document their own complicity.

Those pictures and videos have come alongside written messages on far-right message boards, as well as photographs captured by journalists who were also at the Capitol on the day of the riot.

Of 275 suspects identified thanks to those images, at least 98 have since been arrested and charged, according to court documents seen by Bloomberg.

Some are thought to have been arrested with their own social media posts providing evidence, and others with the digital media submitted to investigators....

As images and videos continue to be submitted and analysed by the FBI, it is believed investigations could take months to conclude.

Cowboys for Trump leader arrested over US Capitol riot

A New Mexico county official and founder of the group Cowboys for Trump who had vowed to return to Washington after last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol to place a flag on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk has been arrested Sunday by the FBI.

Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin was arrested on charges of illegally entering the U.S. Capitol.

According to court documents, Griffin told investigators that he was “caught up” in the crowd, which pushed its way through the barricades and entered the restricted area of the U.S. Capitol, but he said he did not enter the building and instead remained on the U.S. Capitol steps.

A video posted to Griffin's personal Facebook page shows Griffin in the restricted areas, according to the affidavit.
Idiot and cowardly liar.
Griffin did not immediately respond to phone or text messages seeking comment.

On Thursday, Griffin, said he planned to travel with firearms to Washington, D.C., for Biden’s inauguration.

“I’m gonna be there on Jan. 20 ... and I’m gonna take a stand for our country and for our freedoms,” Griffin said during a meeting of the Otero County Board of Commissioners.

“I’m gonna leave either tonight or tomorrow. I’ve got a .357 Henry Big Boy rifle lever action that I’ve got in the trunk of my car and I’ve got a .357 single action revolver, the Colt Ruger Vaquero that I’ll have underneath the front seat on my right side and I will embrace my Second Amendment,” he said.
