Epstein list release predictions and followup

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Adelita Grijalva will win US House special election in Arizona, CNN projects, delivering decisive vote for Epstein files push

This 218th signature should force a vote on releasing the files. We'll see if it does.

I am in favor of releasing all the files. Let the chips fall where they may.

Everybody talks about all "the files" and what a "release" would consist of. Is everything ever collected/used in the Epstein investigation in one data base? There would have to be documents, photos, reports, charts, pictures of original documents, transcripts from various depositions and hearings, physical evidence. Is it orderly, searchable, or would it be a hodge-podge of links and websites? I'm guessing that when the data dump occurs, if it does, that nobody will make it easy for the average citizen to access or understand.

We'll probably get summaries of summaries of summaries with each carrying its own interpretations and emphases. If it is searchable, the most frequent search term will be "Trump" and that will lead to a lot of blackout spaces.

And a whole lot more questions, which will eat up news cycle after news cycle......but you never know. A stinky little burglary brought down a President after three years, not much initial attention and a lot of thread pulling.

Yeah but that was back when people had pearls to clutch and would clutch them over untoward behaviour. I think Trump can be beat because of the effect of what he does, but I've lost any expectation of his getting run out over any scandal.

Even if it's proven that he had direct knowledge of Epstein's crimes? My guess is that's where the files will lead. I'd guess that would be a bridge too far for a fair number (certainly not all) of the wingnuts. The rest will contort themselves into pretzels trying to get the sheep to think it's a nothingburger.

Look at all he's done that's been accepted/glossed over by his followers. Knowledge of somebody else's crimes is not even the worst on the list. Proof that he knowingly banged a 14 year old would probably lose a few followers but most would likely say either "go Donald" or at least "well that was long ago after some locker room thingy"

You're mostly right, but there does seem to be something about child porn and pedophilia that seemingly draws a line with some repubs.

Of course, that could've been when they deluded themselves to believe this was all a Dem scandal.

Bingo. When they thought they could paint some prominent Dems as perverts, then being a pervert was awful. If it's their guy, "eh, no harm done."
If anyone thought that was an exaggeration, they only need to look at the Repub reaction to bashing opponent. Did anybody get fired/canceled for making fun of P-Lo's husband assault? Has anybody been fired/canceled for wishing Biden et. al. dead
But "disrespecting" some podcaster and con guy is "hate speech" worthy of severe punishment.

I think they said that "thousands" of FBI agents combed through the "files", whatever state they're in, specifically looking for references to Trump at the behest of Trump. Unless this index has been "lost" it should ironically make it easier for researchers to uncover whatever is there. Something must be worrying TACO, perhaps the sheer number of connections when Epstein was at his worst or the associated names of GQP donors and officials.

Idk what the effect on MAGA will be, but many of them have already defied Dementia Don by demanding release of the files. The idea of a conspiracy of wealthy, connected child abusers were at the core of Qidiocy for years, especially when used by even DonOLD to implicate Dems. That MAY be a more difficult thing to blow off than past MAGA misdeeds now that his own policies have tarnished his approval ratings so.

A lurid database that takes time to wade through could work out nicely with the timing of next year's midterms. Sure, some Dems and the Dem-associated could be slimed, and maybe should be, but something is worrying TACO more than their exposures will be worth. The GQP could suffer a death by a thousand cuts as new revelations trickle out over the coming 13 months.

Release the Epstaprompter files. Thank you.

:D

Nice of the incompetent Admin* to refocus us:
Commerce Secretary Calls Jeffrey Epstein ‘The Greatest Blackmailer Ever’

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick accused convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein of being “the greatest blackmailer ever” in a new interview, diverging from the Trump Administration’s efforts to downplay concerns over the Epstein case.
Opps.
Multiple members of the Trump Administration had previously promoted conspiracy theories related to Epstein’s case, but have walked back those comments as the President and top officials have tried to dismiss the concerns. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers, meanwhile, have called for transparency, urging the Administration to release the files for the Epstein case.

Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, called for Lutnick to testify before the panel, saying in a social media post on Wednesday that the commerce secretary’s “claims are explosive.” ...

-0-? Could be that MAGA doesn't want new evidence introduced, nor her and other witnesses testifying under oath, and just wants the issue to go away.

The Supremes don't try cases or hear new evidence.

They MAY definitively rule in the defendant's favor on an appeal, but I THINK it's more common for them to ID errors in the trial and send it back to District Court for retrial. O Really?

Pretty sure they mostly kick it back to the Appeals Court in most cases.
