Vrede wrote: "If men have an automatic advantage why was Paul so terrified of women speaking in church?"
Terrified..? It that wasn't so dumb, it would be funny. God created man to be head of the home and to lead the church. He cannot be head of his house and leader of his church if he can't stand up and be a man in character and leadership. Satan has his grubby paws into that too.
"If men could get pregnant there would be an abortion clinic next to every bar and birth control would be free, unrestricted and available in every high school."
Give it a few more years; don't be so impatient.
"How many women start wars, the hands-down stupidest of human endeavors?"
Satan took care of that too. Do you honestly think things would have been different if women had been created as the dominant gender?
If I didn't know you were a male, I'd swear you were a feminist.

One doesn't have to be a female to be a feminist, Mr.B. One just has to support "feminism" which is defined by Merriam-Webster as:
: the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities
: organized activity in support of women's rights and interests
Wouldn't you consider yourself to be a feminist, too?

I'll admit I didn't look up the definition, so I'll say I didn't know that; of course that's not the type of feminist I meant.O Really wrote:"One doesn't have to be a female to be a feminist, Mr.B. One just has to support "feminism" which is defined by Merriam-Webster as:

Maybe I should have said 'effeminate'; he sure doesn't take much of a shine to the male gender.....and I'm not fantasizing his orientation.
I saw another brand of gasoline at a convenience store that got my attention, and I'm busy obsessing over that.

I said nothing of superiority.

What a moron you are! If I despised her, I would have been gone long ago.
FWIW, I can be proud in saying there's still a Mrs.B in my life; so tell us about why there's no longer a Mrs.Vrede......

No dearie...that was your decision, and I can guarantee you that I had a pair long before you did....and I've still got 'em; however it is adorable how you fantasize about them. There were no remarks made re your family members.Mr.B wrote: "FWIW, I can be proud in saying there's still a Mrs.B in my life; so tell us about why there's no longer a Mrs.Vrede......"Another of your fantasies. Vrede wrote:I do note that you've now decided that open season on families is preferable to your growing a pair and admitting that breaking your own rule was wrong. As I've said all along, fine with me.
FWIW...I still can't recall "my own rule" that I have supposedly broken. That, in the BRN forum, was taboo anyway and would elicit a warning or ban from Mark Schulman, who BTW, made the rules.

I wonder - does Satan ever tell the truth? And if not, why would anybody ever believe Him anymore? Looks like He would have to tell the truth occasionally just to keep some level of credibility. Never thought about it; I try to keep him out of my thoughts; fantasizing and all that stuff, you know. However, he is known as the great deceiver, so I'll have to say probably not.
"And if not, why would anybody ever believe Him anymore?"
Why should they? He's done well by his deceiving; in all probability, it makes no difference whether he's lying or 'truthing'; he's achieving his goals of turning mankind away from God.
"Looks like He would have to tell the truth occasionally just to keep some level of credibility. Anybody who bluffs all the time is going to be a very broke poker player."
Maybe so; I try not to let him in my head. I'm certain though that the consequences of believing him are dire.

Via today's News of the Weird:
Pastor Walter Houston of the Fourth Missionary Church in Houston repeatedly refused in November to conduct a funeral for longtime member Olivia Blair, who died recently at age 93 -- because she had come upon hard times in the last 10 years and had not paid her tithe. Ms. Blair's family had supported the church for 50 years, but Pastor Houston was defiant, explaining, "Membership has its privileges." (The family finally found another church for the funeral.) To give Pastor Houston a little more perspective...
...The whole purpose of tithing is to support folks like the widow who has fallen on hard times.Deuteronomy 26:12 (KJV)
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

Re: The Religion Thread
I wanted to send this pious hypocrite a blistering email that would make him question his very reason to exist but alas, I could find no address for him. However, his phone number at the church is 713-659-7724 and I will be calling him this evening; it's Sunday and he's probably there counting the money. I figure on telling him what a disgrace he is to his god, as well as to Ms. Blair and her family and I will wish him the worst kind of eternal hell that he believes in. I may also ask how much he collected today and how much of it he will steal for his own vile purposes. I can't wait to hear what he has to say. Stay tuned.rstrong wrote:Via today's News of the Weird:Pastor Walter Houston of the Fourth Missionary Church in Houston repeatedly refused in November to conduct a funeral for longtime member Olivia Blair, who died recently at age 93 -- because she had come upon hard times in the last 10 years and had not paid her tithe. Re: The Religion Thread
Ok, the number is correct. When the man answered, I asked if this was Pastor Houston; he said no, that this is a deacon. He asked who I was and I told him. Then he says "hold on a minute" and another guy came on the line and asked if he could help me. I said I wanted to leave a message for Pastor Houston; tell him what a goddam hypocrite he is for the way he treated Ms. Blair and her family. But before I could suggest someone keep an eye on him while he's in there counting the collection, he hung up on me. I suspect they're all in this together. I gave them my name and location so if they have caller id perhaps Pastor Houston will call me back. I can only hope; I'll be here all night.
