Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I think the event was that the shooter got into an altercation of some sort with the others. At some point, he went to his car and got out his gun, passing up the opportunity to just drive away. Came back at them and shot them. I'm sure he wuz skeered.

I'm not sure I was correct. It is what the NAU website says, but there may be new law that the website has not caught up with.

AZ allows guns on campus, but also provides for campus choice. So that school may very well prohibit guns from its campus. Texas (and I think 3-4 others) don't allow that choice. Guns in the hands of drunk frat boys are fine with them. That was the version the NC idiots tried to pass and didn't get it done.

Given the typical maturity level of sober frat boys, I might prefer the drunk ones that can't aim as well.

Does anyone really think that any sort of gun legislation or gun control is going to stop anyone from getting their hands on a gun and going on a killing spree?

Not by itself, but just like laws on every other subject in the world, they help shape behaviour overall. They could make it more difficult for some people to getting a gun with a result of fewer people killed because, for example, somebody has anger issues. They could be supported by other laws on contributing factors as well as better/different enforcement on some existing laws.

Does anyone really think the answer is to do nothing but say "oh well, stuff happens"?

We don't have to "really think" one way or the other. Comparable nations, states and homes with fewer guns consistently have less violence. Once again, reality inconveniences homerfobe, poor thing.

You don't really think one way or the other anyway, nothing new. But why are you trying to blame the others for your stupidity? If you don't like the gun situation, why don't you just move your sorry ass to one of those comparable nations or states? If it's working for them, fine, you'll be right at home with one of those comparable nations that never gave their citizens the right o bear arms to protect themselves. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Following that ummm, "logic" maybe you should consider moving somewhere where homosexuality is illegal. You'd be right at home.

There's plenty of places here in the U.S. where being a queer is illegal. Maybe not in the eyes of the faggot-led SCOTUS, but according to the populace of said areas. Faggots, twat twinkies and other sexual deviates know where they are, and stay away, and they're not just redneck areas, many of them are influential neighborhoods. I happen to live in one such neighborhood right here in Greenville, so no thanks, Lady Fagmaster, I won't have to consider moving yet, not until December when I start drawing my high $$ socialist pay for sitting on my ass the rest of my life. You? Well, you'll still be fondling the genitals of your helpless patients.

From this week's News of the Weird:
More Men Who Accidentally Shot Themselves Recently: A 16-year-old boy, in the leg -- for the second time in three months (same leg) (Tulsa, Oklahoma, September). A road-rager waving a gun at a motorist, jarring his trigger finger as he subsequently crashed (Estero, Florida, September). Christen Reece, 23, shot in the head demonstrating to friends the gun's "safety" (Navajo County, Arizona, September). A man celebrating his 21st (and, alas, final) birthday (Dallas, July). A 49-year-old man who failed the "removing the magazine does not clear the chamber" test (Mims, Florida, June). Martin Hoyer, 51, who failed the "waistband is not a holster" test (Wenatchee, Washington, September). Thomas Javier, 26, trying to hide his gun (after being caught urinating in the street) and fumbling it, accidentally shooting himself in the vicinity of the organ in question. (Brooklyn, New York, September). Donald Watson, 43, slipping a for-sale gun into his pocket and somehow firing on his penis (Sioux Falls, South Dakota, September). [Tulsa: Tulsa World, 9-14-2015] [Estero: WINK-TV (Fort Myers), 9-16-2015] [Reece: White Mountain Independent (Show Low, Ariz.), 9-3-2015] [Dallas: New York Daily News, 7-18-2015] [Mims: WTVJ-TV (Miami), 6-15-2015] [Hoyer: Wenatchee World, 9-24-2015] [Javier: New York Daily News, 9-27-2015] [Watson: Sioux Falls Argus Leader, 9-25-2015]
A couple of those remind me of a 1996 classic:
Hit man Chanh Thong Vo, 24, was killed in what was most likely a contract murder in Toronto in December. Vo was known in the community for holding his .45-caliber handgun in the front waistband of his jeans, and because of an earlier accident, he was known as No Wang Vo.

Unfortunately, those instances don't even qualify as "weird."

Is it still public indecency if you accidentally shoot it off before you're arrested?

Yes. But on the bright side, now you're entitled to an even bigger gun.

And at most they'll probably get a misdemeanor charge of allowing access to a firearm to an unsupervised minor. Ridiculous. So explain to me again how holding people responsibility for their stupidity and negligence is "taking away our guns"? Guns on the table? In a house with little kids, at least one of which isn't yours? Didn't know it was loaded? What a bunch of effin' idiots that will probably walk away with an "opps."
