2024 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Nice.

If he loses he will deny the loss and then blame everyone other than himself. However, most of America will KNOW that it was DonOLD's erratic stupidity that killed the campaign.

I followed Harris and Trump round North Carolina. It’s clear who’s going to win

Repugs' stupidity is way off the scale across the board. They could have run any generic repug they had under their rock and won walking away. Any generic repug would have picked false immigration claims and distorted economy claims as their centerpiece, and promised to chase off a few more homeless and Kamala would be toast without avocado. But noooooo. They ran chaotic Trump again and look likely to lose. But even if they win, they've got nothing but Trump and his band of asylum escapees doing nothing for them and ignoring anything he had promised in the past. Now sure, an ending where Trump loses (again) is certainly a good ending, but how can repugs be sooooooo self-destructively stupid?

What's everyone's predictions?

I think Harris will win.

But having grown up in the Delaware valley I can attest to the immense boorish stupidity of people of people in that region. I still hope she takes PA.

I voted this morning. Could have voted early but didn't want to drive all the way across town (my polling place is less than a mile from me). There were about a hundred people in front of me in line but it took about forty minutes total. I was happy to see a Democrat running against that dizzy bimbo Marsha Blackburn, so I voted for the Democrat even though she's had no tv ads that I've seen. Hell, I can't even remember her name other than it wasn't Marsha Blackburn. Also voted for the Democratic candidate in the state races. But I'd be surprised as hell if TN ends up with its electoral votes going to Harris. There are way too many nanowits around here who've been brainwashed by twenty years of Fox News. They will keep voting against their own interests until they die. And they had no stickers or at least didn't admit it. But I did like that Mi fish slap sticker.

Some are gullible, some are easily frightened, many would prefer fascism.

Most years I give at least some passing thought to races that I'm not very familiar with - local races and some of the less well known statewide races. Not in 2024. If you have so little patriotism and self esteem as to put an R next to your name when it's MAGA from top to bottom, you are disqualified. Even School Board is newly partisan - "Vote for four", 4 Dems on the ballot, easy-peasy. The only research I had to do was for nonpartisan City Council.

These Pictures Show The Huge Difference Between Kamala Harris's Last Rally Crowd Vs. Donald Trump's Last Rally Crowd

Taylor Tomlinson on Derrick Anderson’s Fake Family Campaign Ad

:laughing-rolling: Derrick Anderson is the RepuQ (of course) candidate for the open seat in Virginia's purple 7th congressional district. His opponent is Eugene Vindman, former deputy legal advisor to the U.S. National Security Council (2018–2020) and twin brother of patriotic Trump–Ukraine scandal whistleblower Alexander Vindman. The polling is tight. GoVindmanGo, I hope national ridicule of Anderson helps.
Eugene Vindman won!!! I hope Derrick Anderson’s fake family isn't too disappointed.

Some insight into the average person's mind: was talking to a good friend of mine today. He doesn't really follow politics. Voted Biden last election. Thinks Trump is a dick. I asked him his thoughts about the election, he said he voted Trump. I asked his reasons. He said interest rates are too high, inflation is bad, and the border situation is out of control. I asked him if he knows who controls the interest rate, why they're higher now, and why they were low. He said he doesn't really follow stuff like that and doesn't really follow politics.

I think this is a good representation of how most voters think. People are simply ignorant.

Rural Republicans have been doing that for years with the promise of a magic wand to change their station in life. Ain't happened. Ain't gonna happen. Yet they'll continue to vote against their own interests.

Add to that is an awful lot of just plain lazy. We're informed, invested and abreast far higher than the national average. How often did we hear "I just don't know enough about Harris?" WTF? Everything you'd want or need to know was just a click away but it seems to be too much effort to actually click, watch and listen about politics when there's so much TikTok available.

Nope, 30 second sound bites repeated ad nauseum without a shred of substance ruled the day.

There's probably three or more components to the Venn diagram of the trump voter with a lot of overlap including a fairly large percentage of sickophants that actually would vote for him if he shot someone on 5th Avenue.

Most of us here are likely more informed in general than your average voter given we're posting on a forum dedicated to such things, so I think it's easy to forget that the average person is simply that incredibly ignorant. With these types, the person with the loudest voice and who speaks with the most confidence with the simplest of solutions is usually who grabs their attention. These people are really that stupid.

What I'm most surprised about is the women vote.

Guess they can be lazy and ignorant also.

In one of the first of many inevitable betrayals, remember the unions that were reluctant to go with Kamala? Apparently Trump has already hauled up the same (or similar) anti-union people as he had before at the NLRB. Unions got more gains and more support from Biden than anybody recently. Trump V.1 gave them dog poop off the bottom of his shoe. Any union guy who voted for Trump shouldn't be allowed to breed.

There's also a large contingent of people you'd typically associate with identifying with the left that threw their support behind Trump. A good amount of "hippy", nature loving, au-natural" types seem to be drawn to him.

Here's my take from watching a few people I personally know evolve: These people have always been more on the skeptical side and distrustful of the establishment. They typically vote third party, or at least align with third party candidates. They're heavily into things like natural foods, natural medicines, and so forth. Covid happened and they saw the government pushing us to get vaccines and that played into that skepticism and paranoia. They consume a lot of media from things like YouTube, tiktok, and so forth. They have a penchant for believing in conspiracy theories and "connecting the dots" and not trusting traditional media. I personally think there's also a large dash of narcissism (and I think that is especially important) as well in that they lack the self doubt to question things they instinctively agree with. At least with the people I know. They have an overconfidence in their own ability to discern what they see as "truth" and view others who accept facts contrary to their personal beliefs as sheep being spoon fed propaganda from mainstream media. Just because something is touted by the mainstream media doesn't mean it's automatically incorrect or part of an agenda. But they don't see that.

In any case, I think a lot of the above came together and they saw Trump as the outsider that establishment was afraid of. He openly talks about some of the more conspriational topics they latch onto (for example, the deep state and so forth). He surrounds himself with people that likewise do the same.
