Hell, if I were on the road and knew Ted Cruz was in the car ahead of me I'd do a pit maneuver on him just because I felt I owe it someone or even myself.

Re: COVIDiots
Can you clarify why you think this cartoon insinuates that Dilbert hates science? I don't get that.

Re: COVIDiots
The "do my own research" thing is just another example of national dumbing, where limited understanding of concept or language leads to further stupidity. "Research" is a broad term, and sure - a reader should "do their own research" to determine what sources are credible, but nobody is going to be able to "do their own research" to determine the efficacy or safety of a particular vaccine. Same for their made-up idea of "cancel culture", derived from a teenage slang term.

Re: COVIDiots
You might consider answering my question. What in that cartoon made you think Dilbert hates science? Looks to me like he's all for science but is skeptical of his science adviser. I have a fine sense of humor and you bring out the more confrontational aspect of it. And I bet you still don't answer the question. Prove me wrong and then maybe tell me why you're probably the only one here who thinks I have no sense of humor.Ulysses wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:55 pmYou might consider acquiring a sense of humor.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 6:27 amCan you clarify why you think this cartoon insinuates that Dilbert hates science? Re: COVIDiots
It would help if your "humor" was actually humorous. Instead, it's unrecognizable. Fail.

Your post was vague. Own it. However, I read you as accusing O Really of hating science.

Yeah, I figured he was either accusing O Really of hating science or Dilbert of hating it. I went with the cartoon since I felt Useless was more of a visual sort of idiot.

I'll spin. I suspect it was when you posted "when did you start hating science." And as I predicted you never answer the question. Re: COVIDiots
(Sigh) Why do we so often have to beat some piece of insignificance into the ground to explain the obvious?
So I'm reading the digital version of the newspaper this morning and thought that today's "Dilbert" took a very clear and clever poke at those who choose to ignore experts.
Although the strip didn't mention any particular topic, it seemed obvious the principle could be applied to the covidiots.
Without any comment needed, I posted the strip for the enjoyment of any members who hadn't seen it.
Nobody hates science.
I don't hate science.
Dilbert the character doesn't hate science.
Scott Adams the writer doesn't hate science.
There is nothing in the strip nor in any non-existent accompanying comments to indicate anybody hates science.
Even the doofus character in the strip doesn't hate science, and refers only to "experts" whom he originally says to follow.
The guy who said "there's no such thing as a dumb question" was an idiot.

The science of cowbell has been neglected, ostracized, and generally been disparaged. I have found that increasing the size of the cowbell while simultaneously increasing the size of the drumstick results in an identical sound as if the cowbell was normal size. Everybody knows it.
