They need to turn up Kate's mic a bit like it is on the actual video. IMNVHO her voice makes that song.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 12:19 amThe youtube gods were kind tonight.

As A UGA grad I can confirm Athens has been drifting left for quite some time.

It's UGA in Athens - more Dem than I knew. Georgia Tech is in downtown Atlanta and has a rep for health and science geeks AFAIK. Maybe some of the other GA schools, minus the HBCUs, are redneck dipshits?

Among many of the engineers I've worked with over the years, GA Tech has always been ridiculed as a lesser prestige school. That was my rationale for my post. I myself never attended it. Didn't attend MIT, either.Vrede too wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 4:52 pmIt's UGA in Athens - more Dem than I knew. Georgia Tech is in downtown Atlanta and has a rep for health and science geeks AFAIK. I know more about computers there, my brother's field, than I do engineering and Idk much about its redneckiness.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 7:48 amAmong many of the engineers I've worked with over the years, GA Tech has always been ridiculed as a lesser prestige school. Maybe some of neoplacebo's engineer colleagues had a bit of regional bias?

Yeah, I googled "does ga tech have a bad reputation as an engineering school? abd found that nationally, it's consistently rated in the top ten. So all the disparaging comments I've heard over the years are apparently more of a comical denigration than any actual deficiency. The commenters that I can remember were from UT, UNC, and NCSU. Probably just tribal hubris on their part.

Georgia Institute of Technology #4 in Best Engineering Schools
North Carolina State University #27 in Best Engineering Schools (tie)
University of Tennessee--Knoxville #52 in Best Engineering Schools (tie)
University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill #64 in Best Engineering Schools (tie)
My brother's field, while I'm at it:
Georgia Institute of Technology #6 in Computer Science
University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill #27 in Computer Science
North Carolina State University #51 in Computer Science (tie)
University of Tennessee--Knoxville #80 in Computer Science (tie)
North Carolina State University not ranked in Computer Science
Must be jealousy, as O Really says. We better hope that Georgia rednecks aren't this smart.

I suppose it's a safe bet that MTG is not a GA Tech grad.

Aside from the aside: 100 pages of The Music Thread, though we sometimes go off on tangents.
