I still think the most effective protest is to keep saying "Republican" when you say "Trump." Make it clear that every Trump fiasco is a Republican fiasco. Not just because they nominated and voted for him, but because they control the House, Senate and every way to censure or control him. They are utterly responsible for him.

By the 2008 election Republicans were often declaring that Bush II wasn't their fault because he "wasn't really a Republican." Let those in Congress know that they won't get away with it this time. Unless they take action, they're tied to the mast when the ship goes down.

That depends on who is in the White House. Bush II's administration was notorious for hiring religious "university" graduates to staff various departments. And as Soviet-style political officers to ensure that NASA and others didn't contradict White House policy by stating that the world was older than 6000 years.

Back in the day, burning a draft card meant something because it was illegal; burning a flag meant something because even if it wasn't really Constitutionally illegal, people thought so. Burning a diploma means nothing. You're still a graduate of the school and the officials at the school don't even know who did it. Returning them, on the other hand is at least a message directly to the school - identifying yourself and creating something tangible the school has to deal with even if their "dealing" is to toss them in the recycle. Return them and tell everybody you did it. And go back to school somewhere for a real degree from a real university.
