War on Women

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I don't know nor particularly care about the Bible cites, but the court's decision bodes well for smacking down that admitting law that others have also passed.

The Bible places no value on fetuses or infants less than one month old. (Leviticus 27:6)
Fetuses and infants less than one month old are not considered persons. (Numbers 3:15-16)
God sometimes approves of killing fetuses. (Numbers 31:15-17, Hosea 9:14, Hosea 9:16, Hosea 13:16)
God sometimes kills newborn babies to punish their parents. (2 Samuel 12:14)
God sometimes causes abortions by cursing unfaithful wives. (Numbers 5:21-21, 27-28)
God's law sometimes requires the execution (by burning to death) of pregnant women. (Genesis 38:24)
Caveat: Copied, I haven't verified yet.
The long-form version:

Abortion is not murder. A fetus is not considered a human life.
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life. - Exodus 21:22-23
The Bible places no value on fetuses or infants less than one month old.
And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. - Leviticus 27:6
Fetuses and infants less than one month old are not considered persons.
Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them. And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD. - Numbers 3:15-16
God sometimes endorses the of killing fetuses.
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. - Numbers 31:15-17

(Some of the non-virgin women must have been pregnant. They would have been killed along with their unborn fetuses.)

Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. - Hosea 9:14

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. - Hosea 9:16

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. - Hosea 13:16
God sometimes kills newborn babies to punish their parents.
Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. - 2 Samuel 12:14
God sometimes causes abortions by cursing unfaithful wives.
The priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell. And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.
...
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed. - Numbers 5:21-21, 27-28
In case that's not clear, God dictated to Moses that unfaithful wives are to be given abortions, and the Bible gives detailed instructions on how to perform them.

God's law sometimes requires the execution (by burning to death) of pregnant women.
Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. - Genesis 38:24
Of course, any God that makes people do this is all together evil anyway:
And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them. - Jeremiah 19:9

"Bodes well" certainly isn't the same as "slam dunk." But the argument against that "admitted" restriction is pretty compelling. If it were just a case of whether the state has the authority to regulate medical facilities, it would be a different story. But the question isn't whether the state has the authority to create a regulation; it's whether this regulation is an unlawful restriction of abortion rights. So they have to say it's a health and safety issue, or come up with some other valid reason that is not simply intended to impede abortions. They have nothing in the way of court-worthy evidence to support the health and safety argument, and as far as I've seen haven't even bothered to offer any alternate rationale.

Agreed, I'm just not predicting.

"Writing for the 7th Circuit majority, Judge Richard Posner" - Reagan appointee.
"Judge David Manion was the lone dissenter" - Reagan appointee.
The article didn't name the other majority panelist.

Could again come down to Kennedy, another Reagan appointee, and how he's getting along with his wife and daughter.

Who cares that the videos were lies, that it gives comfort to Christian terrorists and that this is yet another pathetic waste of taxpayer money that won't survive a veto?
Senate Passes Bill Repealing Key Parts of Obamacare, Stripping Planned Parenthood Funds

... "It seems implausible that less than a week after a tragic shooting at the Planned Parenthood health center in Colorado Springs some in Washington chose politics over compassion," Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement.

"What millions of people across this country needed in the wake of two unspeakable acts of violence this week, in Colorado and in California, was reassurance that lawmakers care about the lives, health and safety of the people they represent," Laguens said. "What they got instead was the cold shoulder of indifference."

Poor obsessed Seth Milner dodges the topic, again, in lieu of fantasizing about me, again, this time about the underwear I wear. Hmmm, the reason for his latent, overcompensating homophobia is becoming more clear.

Hard to imagine anything else from him. Kinda like trump, when ignorance back them into a corner, all they have left is name calling

Have you seen the old Twitter fight between trumpet and one of the Modern Family writers. Funny as hell that these idiots can't compose a come-back line in the moment and even funnier (pitiful) that they still got nothing a day later when they post or tweet.

If I had been selecting the Woman of the Year, I wouldn't have selected Caitlin. However, I have known a couple of transgender people personally, and it's not something one does on a frivolous whim. I can't imagine going through that as a part of the Kardashian circus, and in the very cruel public eye. What she has done for others dealing with transgender issues is certainly comparable to the many celebrities who have to deal publicly with private issues of health and do so with grace and strength. So even if I wouldn't have selected her, I'd certainly not ridicule the choice.

Muffing the winner of Miss Universe, though? Yeah, I'd ridicule that mess.
