Dumb headlines thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

yep, last year I had asked 2 of my docs about doing anything remotely. no way, never, never, too risky, can't be done, they said.
I have a Zoom appointment next week with one of them.
I could not get my MD's obscure video app working, and would have had to use a dinky phone, anyhow. So, we had a 25 minute telephone appt yesterday. I still have to go in for a lab draw in 3 weeks and in-person completion of my annual physical a few days later, but I liked that we got so much done safely. I do need the labs, but if we have to cancel the rest of the physical exam for some reason, no biggie to me.

I'm not doing the requested labs for next week. I had a blood draw several weeks ago that should be good enough. The out patient waiting was not something I want to do until this is over. I did learn that if I suspect Coronavirus they will do testing in the parking lot.

Not sure if they are testing saliva or blood.

MD said something about the lab techs making folks wait in the parking lot and calling us in one at a time for the blood draw. Fine by me. I'll also wear a mask and gloves. Not sure what made me save my unused N95s, but I'm glad that I did. I'm leaving my used one on the dash. As long as a couple of days pass, it should be safe to reuse.

I also had an unopened box of gloves, hah!

Woman killed by alligator in SC was doing homeowner's nails

Made me wonder how the hell that could happen, but the idiot wasn't actually "doing homeowner's nails" when she was attacked. Comments:
“I don't look like a deer” -- Maybe not, but to that alligator you looked like FOOD.
I don't think it's a good idea to pet an alligator
Oh it's so cute, why pet a cat when you can wade into a pond and pet this?
A government alligator simply enforcing the stay-at-home order.
Last words " I won't be doing this again"...she was right.
I won't even play my ball on a South Carolina golf course if I have to turn my back to the water in striking range.
Verily I say unto thee: "Darwin was right."
That’s what happens when you ignore stay at home orders...revenge of the swamp.

Woman found dismembered in suitcase named by police

That's awful, but why did the police name the suitcase?

"28-year-old Phoenix Netts."

No no no, it's the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn (formerly New Jersey) Nets.

Death gave him the free time he needed for cooking and social media lessons.

Marine fighter jet lands safely after crashing in mid-air with another plane in Southern California

Granted, the article is sloppy, but it's not so confusing that we can't tell that the fighter jet crashed (video) and the prop-driven tanker (pic) landed safely.

This is certainly dumb; maybe should be in the "can't make this stuff up" category......former coal baron Murray, who fought mine worker health and safety for decades, files for federal Black Lung benefits. He will forever be in a coal fired hell and should be.

Karma.

He's even worse than your link describes:
... Murray has received attention for his denial of climate change, his actions following the Crandall Canyon Mine collapse and his consistent support of the Republican Party....

In August 2007, six miners were trapped at the Crandall Canyon Mine in Utah, of which Murray Energy independent operating subsidiary UtahAmerican Energy had been a part-owner for 12 months. Prior to the collapse, the Crandall Canyon Mine had received 64 violations and $12,000 in fines....
