Jasmine's "noncontiguous" Hawaii should also get this special consideration. Not sure about noncontiguous nonstates Puerto Rico and Guam.
Okay then, we may have to depend on SINO Johnson the johnson's inability to wrangle House dissenters.

FWIW, it hasn't passed. This vote was procedural. There's still a full Senate debate to go.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 9:52 amAsshole. Collins?GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 9:32 amUnreal.

Yeah, knew that, 51-49 on whether to launch debate. Your post sounds like Murkowski has decided how she'll vote on the BB Bill, itself.

NC's Sen Tillis is up for reelection in 2026. He must figure that the Medicaid cuts, which SoupySales denied in a hilarious tangent, and the debt INCREASE will hurt him more in the general than MAGAts like SoupySales can hurt him in the primary.

Hopefully the GOP can find a solid conservative to run for this senate seat. I personally will not miss Tillis.

In what way(s) could Tillis not be described as a "solid conservative"?Supsalemgr wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 1:45 pmhttps://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/29/thom-ti ... trump.html

(aside) somebody has edited his Wiki entry, correctly, but probably won't last there very long:
Thomas Roland Tillis[1] (/ˈtɪlɪs/ TIL-iss; born August 30, 1960) is an American invertebrate and politician serving as the senior United States senator from North Carolina, a seat he has held since 2015.

Ok, i'll spin. i'll go with Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, Gym Jordan, Mike Johnson.....keep in mind all those are tragcially flawed in other ways but I feel they can be what passes for a solid conservative these days. One must recognize that solid conservative and solid nutjob have over the past ten or twelve years become pretty much one and the same.Supsalemgr wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 2:51 pmWhat is your definition of "solid conservative"? It's funny that "solid conservative" arises in this context. The MAGA Cult uses the word as a synonym for anything TACO DonOLD does or wants, regardless of where it fits on the ideological spectrum. The handful of true conservatives are opposing this fiscally irresponsible bill that adds so much to the debt, kills granny in order to benefit the oligarchs, and creates a more authoritarian state by removing power from the states and Congress and centralizing it in the executive.
It won't surprise me to see NC11's Chuck Edwards run for the seat. He comes off as sane, unlike the norm for NC11, he's been a boot-licking loyal MAGAt, and he got some positive national media from his mostly competent and compassionate work in the wake of Helene, other than kissing FEMA-dismantling TACO's ass.
Whatever, better chance than usual that our new Sen will be a Dem. Haha. In fact, that could play a role in the Tillis retirement. Maybe he didn't like his chances.

Here we go again, not that I'm complaining:
Elon Musk rips into ‘utterly insane’ Trump-backed megabill
Key Points
* Elon Musk said that President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” will “destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” in a post on X.
* Musk’s prior criticisms of the spending package triggered a public feud between the two men even though the Tesla and SpaceX CEO had been the president’s biggest financial backer.
* Musk’s newest comments come as the Senate is poised to vote on the megabill.

It's also an indirect subsidy to King Coal and Big Oil & Gas. Remember that DonOLD openly solicited bribes from them during the campaign in exchange for favorable actions as POTUS*.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 5:41 pmit is beyond my understanding except as an fu to dems.
