Sorry, but I don't see that the focuses attention by players and staff as being the same the fans tracking it home or nearly as bad as 30,000 students going to class and then out into the community.

I don't agree with your either-or dichotomy. Both are bad.

Over 199,000 people contracted the virus yesterday in this country alone. Auburn and Alabama had zero new cases related to football yesterday.

The source of community spread is often impossible to determine.

Awful game. I fucking hate gus - he may be a great high school coach but he sucks at this level.

An interesting call at the end defies my understanding.
We were on about their 25 or so. The qb takes the snap, under no duress from a light rush he steps back two steps and lobs one into the end zone.
The receiver missed the play and no one was there. No big deal, broken plays and missed routes happen all the time. Except today it was intentional grounding - 10 yards, loss of down and 10 seconds off the 25 remaining seconds in the game.

I guess I'm not understanding. Are you for closing college campuses?

I was for closing more things than I am now. I have conceded to the fact that the wingers will not comply and will continue to spread the virus.

Rating risks - I would put outdoor events requiring distancing much lower than inside events of almost any type.

I was impressed that Bama required distancing throughout the game, unlike aTm and Tenn. They both allowed people to sit in large groups and even fill certain sections near the 50.

Didn't you post something saying that over 100 million of us have had it in the last 9 months? That 1/3 of everyone in the country.
Have we reached a tipping point because of trump's incompetence? There is one somewhere and when we reach it the only good practice remaining will be to isolate completely until the vaccine is available.

Auburn went 7 weeks with no positive tests. Then we had 10 after the launch game. Plus 10 more from contact tracing. We halted practice and training for 2 weeks, resumed practice for a week and haven't had any positive tests since.

I never thought it could go like this. I assumed the season would break down after 3 or 4 games.

If anything, football proves that this could have been a lot easier in there hadn't been a trump in the way.

If not, severe mask/distance restrictions.

I was for closing more things than I am now. I have conceded to the fact that the wingers will not comply and will continue to spread the virus.

Is that reason to give up? Maybe, but not IMO. Are record breaking hospitalizations and deaths acceptable?

Rating risks - I would put outdoor events requiring distancing much lower than inside events of almost any type.

Agreed, but I also have less tolerance for games than I do for learning.

I was impressed that Bama required distancing throughout the game, unlike aTm and Tenn. They both allowed people to sit in large groups and even fill certain sections near the 50.

I am all for enhanced enforcement with anything that isn't cancelled.

Yes, but it's a CDC estimate. Then, we don't know yet whether prior infection confers immunity and how long it might last.

Have we reached a tipping point because of trump's incompetence? There is one somewhere and when we reach it the only good practice remaining will be to isolate completely until the vaccine is available.

I think that it's always been the case that a strict lockdown for 2 or 3 weeks followed by universal testing/contact tracing and mandatory quarantines would go a long way to getting on top of the pandemic.

Oh well. Maybe it puts us closer to firing gus - look for the silver lining.

Plus - the refs might get a refresher on Intentional Grounding before they blow the call in a situation where it matters. End of the 4th quarter today - it didn't matter.

True, they are games, but they are also more to those looking for a sports career.

No, these deaths are not acceptable, but they are our reality. How can anything get better when the president, a bunch of governors and lots a sheriffs refuse to comply or require compliance. That's our reality and it doesn't allow for a 2 to 3 week shutdown anytime in the next 2 months. If the CDC estimate of 100 million is close, we should be approaching 200 million easily by then.

Australia had 7 new cases yesterday
Mainland China had 6
We had 200,000

We could be there too had we done what they did 8 months ago but for trump.

Ian Book threw three touchdown passes and ran for two scores in his final home game at Notre Dame, leading the second-ranked Fighting Irish to a 45-21 victory against Syracuse on Saturday.

The fifth-year senior led the Irish to a victory as a starter for the 30th time, the most ever for a Notre Dame quarterback. The Irish (10-0, 9-0 ACC, CFP No. 2) ran their winning streak to 16 games, best in the country, and their home winning streak to 24....

To be fair, it's only chance if there's a spread. No one would seriously pick Virginia Tech to beat Clemson, for example.

"Chance" would be basically a coin toss - two possible outcomes, either team A or team B will win. With the coin toss, you have equal chance of picking Clemson or Va Tech. If the coin falls on VPI, you won't win that one, but with enough games, you'll win half of them - as compared to your March Madness record, for example.
