Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I kinda want to start a go fund me for ladders.

I mean.... you really only need one.

Great minds..... :-H

Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall

We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved. Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values.

And even though at a rate of $1.7 million daily, it would take their fund about 35 years to raise the $21.7 billion that Trump's own Dept. of Homeland Security says would be needed to build said wall, we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them.

If this seems ludicrous, we welcome you to the coalition of reasonable adults.

Should we not reach our goal--or should they (ahem) not reach theirs--all funds raised will go to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) , a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.

You see, they’ll never reach their goal, but no matter how much we raise, we’re going to reach ours:

Supporting an organization working to help immigrants seeking legal asylum. This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up....

Questions? Concerns? Misspelled remarks full of racist vitriol you'd like to pass along? Find me at @cmclymer ....

$102,762 of $100.0M goal
Done, thanks.

It's related to the go fund me.... but look at the progress bar.... looks like someone can't math and did the total for $100 million.

Am I wrong? Way to mislead people in how close you are to your goal.

In the news: Supposedly Trump played with the idea of firing the Federal reserve chairman, even though he can't. Incompetence and ignorance?

The stock market appears to be in a free fall (my 401k is down 11% this year).

Sec. Of Treasury Munchkin reportedly made a phone call to the CEOs of many major banks to quell fears.

A government shut down that may linger on for a while.

Another one of my personal favorites given that I have farmers (particularly soy bean famers) in my family, is the trade tarrifs.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washin ... -into-law/

A huge bailout (buyout?) to farmers directly hurt by Trumps trade tarrifs

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year everyone!

At least he asked people before doing it or tweeting threats about doing it.
The stock market appears to be in a free fall (my 401k is down 11% this year).
Dow Jones 1/20/2009: 7949.09
Dow Jones 1/20/2010: 10603.15
33.4% growth in Obama's first year.
Dow Jones 1/20/16: 15766.74
Dow Jones 1/20/17: 19827.25
25.8% growth in Obama's last year. 300% growth from the Spring 2009 Shrub low in Obama's 8 years.
Dow Jones 12/24/18: 21,969.08
10.8% growth in Dolt .45’s first 23 months, an annual growth rate of 5.6%, a LOWER rate than both Obama’s 1st and last years. Trumpettes are sooo gullible!
Sec. Of Treasury Munchkin reportedly made a phone call to the CEOs of many major banks to quell fears.
I can't imagine "Munchkin ( :D )" being successful at quelling fears about anything. I would take my kid and leave a playground if he showed up. The markets agree with me:
Dow Jones plunges after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin comments on banks

... However, the message may have had the opposite effect since it was not a concern of market watchers until his tweet.

“If this weren’t the end of December, I would have thought it was April Fools,” Jared Bernstein, former chief economist to Vice President Joe Biden, told The Washington Post. “The markets are already nervous enough. It’s like sending out a message saying our space shields can intercept incoming asteroids. Uh, I didn’t know there were any coming our way.” ...

How many of those have they financially ruined? Still in freefall. TV news says 3% loss just today and "worst Christmas Eve trading day ever."

Remember when he was boasting about how well the stock market was doing? Also, remember when his staunchest supporters were doing the same, both using it as an example of how well his presidency was doing?

He attacked the Federal reserve once again visit Twitter. I don't think that's going to help matters. Trump always without fail tries to shift blame elsewhere.

Found, not positive that it's an entirely accurate quote:

"When the new year begins next week, President Trump will have an acting chief of staff, an acting secretary of defense, an acting attorney general, an acting EPA administrator, no interior secretary, and no ambassador to the United Nations. The officials originally in all those positions have either been fired or have quit in various measures of disgust or scandal. His former campaign chairman, deputy campaign chairman, national security adviser and personal lawyer have all pleaded guilty to crimes. His campaign, his transition, his foundation and his business are all under investigation. The United States’ allies are horrified at the chaos Trump has brought to our foreign policy. The stock market is experiencing wild swings as investors are gripped with fear over what might be coming and what Trump might do to make it worse — a situation alarming enough that the treasury secretary felt the need to call up the CEOs of major banks to assure them that everything is under control.

And, oh yeah, the government is shut down.

This, my friends, is exactly what we were afraid of when Trump somehow managed to get elected president two years ago. This is what we warned you about."

What can't this idiot screw up?

Trump Questions 7-Year-Old’s Belief In Santa, Calling It ‘Marginal’

"Because at 7, it's marginal, right?" Trump asked the 7 year old who was calling Santa with his wishes - unlike the other 7 year olds who have recently abandoned their belief in this particular sky fairy and had no reason to be calling Santa with their dreams.

Trump went on to explain that he no longer believed in many many things, before launching into a description of father Fred shattering his own Santa fantasies at age 4 and how it made him the man he is today.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Wow.

Great question for Repugs - Are you still a believer in Trump? Because in 2018 it’s marginal, right?

Comments:
A child calls the SANTA tracking hotline, and the person who answers asks him if he still believes in SANTA. Think about that.
A child calling donald trump at Christmas time is like a man and woman having a divorce lawyer perform their wedding.
There is more evidence to base a belief in Santa then there is in Trump.
I'm a senior, on Medicare and I believe in Santa Claus. I don't, however, believe in Trump.
Who decided it was a good idea for Donald Trump to answer the phones and talk to kids?
Sanders will have an excuse as to what he really meant as always.
7 is probably a good age to stop believing in Trump too.

The Chickenhawk in Chief is even so stupid as to lie to the troops about the paychecks that they can all see for themselves.

Trump Brags To Troops About A Fictional Giant Pay Raise He Got Them

Then:
President Donald Trump may have inadvertently unmasked a Navy SEAL team during his short visit to a US base in Iraq this week.

Ordinarily, the whereabouts of special operations forces are a closely held secret. In the rare instances when they are filmed while in a combat zone, their faces and other identifying features are usually blurred out.

But after his lightning trip to Al-Asad Air Base in western Iraq on Wednesday, Trump tweeted a video of him posing for photos with US troops, shaking their hands and signing mementos.

In one scene, he is giving a thumbs up alongside a group of what appear to be special operations forces....
Why should a lifelong coward care about getting them killed? They are a reminder of his shame.

Yeah, I noticed those stories. It was a true slam dunk for our dubmass president; lying to US forces about a pay raise way above what they really got and then hobnobbing with SEAL Team 5? Not sure I believe that; those guys wouldn't blow their cover intentionally. Also I saw a story yesterday from the daughters of the doctor that gave Trump his bone spur draft deferment in 68....one of the daughters is now an MD. They both stated that they'd heard their dad talking about this before he died. Turns out the daddy doctor rented his office space from Fred Trump and the diagnosis was a "favor" to his landlord. Sweet. While I'm at it, I was watching an oldies tv channel today and there was this commercial for the old Twilight Zone show; the intro was Rod Serling saying "....a place where logic is an enemy and truth is a menace." I thought; god damn, we're there. :o

There never was a bigger a-hole than Trump.

Right now I'm being adversely affected by Trump's latest Tantrump. Why?

Well, I don't work for the federal government, but I filed for Social Security about two weeks before the shutdown. My application seems to be in limbo. I've read that while current retirees on SS won't be affected, those who apply will experience delays. Lovely. So... I won't be announcing my retirement to my employer until I start getting the SS checks.

I already waited a year past my full retirement age to file, so the potential higher checks at this point don't mean as much to me. I just want to retire and do something else. Or nothing at all.
Good luck with your struggle in becoming retired and receiving the benefits you've paid into for decades. I'm two years into being retired, and it's mostly boring. I've gained weight due to inactivity and find the whole thing generally boring. I have considered becoming a bull fighter but I just don't know if I can put on one of those bull fighter outfits and be at ease.
