Re: President* Trump
I saw a story the other day that says trump will not attend his New Years bash at Mar a Lago that many acolytes have paid many thousands of dollars to attend, see and be seen, drink fancy drinks, puke in fancy bathrooms, and generally carry on like they are clever. I thought to myself.....well, bullshit; there's no way in hell he's gonna miss the chance to make all that money and receive misguided adoration from wealthy idiots. He will make the party I guarantee. I even just a few minutes ago sent an email to the contact link for the Mar a Lago shithole to warn them that contrary to press reports, they should act as if he's coming anyway. I closed with "my sincere condolences to each and every one of you poor bastards" and then said I would like oysters and beer brought to my suite at once. I had to give my name and phone number to send them that message. I will report any subsequent reply I may receive by email or phone. ok

Stephen Miller steps into spotlight amid chaos in 'zombie' White House press shop
Gee, why would anyone be concerned by the increasing power and visibility of Skeletor?... Miller had remained behind the scenes much of the last year, but earlier this month he stepped into the spotlight for a rare pair of television appearances that has left Trump allies with concerns about the state of the White House communications operation....
Several former officials who spoke to Yahoo News said Miller’s reemergence as a public face of the White House was a public relations catastrophe.
“If you’re a comms person, you don’t want to have him out there because every time he goes out, it’s an absolute disaster,” one former West Wing staffer told Yahoo News.
Another former White House official echoed that sentiment.
“Miller is so awful on TV, it’s counterproductive to put him on,” the ex-official said....
Watching Miller represent the Trump administration during an especially tense stretch this past month left some Trump allies convinced the White House messaging operation has gone haywire. These concerns have been fueled by dramatic staff turnover and continuing rumors of more imminent departures from the White House press office....
“No professional in good standing will even interview for a job.” The former White House official said, adding, “It’s a zombie comms shop. Night of the living dead.”
I'm reminded of:
A wall we decent and patriotic Americans can support.

Re: President* Trump
Well, I wish you luck in achieving your objectives. And if it doesn't work out, maybe we can both get a bull fighter suit and try our luck.....it's got to be reasonably good for you since you have to be nimble and quick, fast on your feet; and I imagine it's a hell of a cardiac workout when that raging beast gets a bead on you and starts a charge.....this is where they say bring in the clowns.....but no. I do hope you find solace and contentment. I am mostly bored and would like to work part time on a contract labor basis (no benefits) as a low voltage systems estimator; it was the last job I did for fifteen years. Around here, it seems they call in the big boys from Knoxville to do this sort of thing. In WNC several electrical contractors have their own low voltage division. Not so here. I thought about getting a bicycle but I never did....maybe this spring if the bullfight gig don't pan out. Cheers!Ulysses wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 6:26 pmLOL, your experience is the opposite of what I'm looking to in retirement. I hope to get out more, bicycling around the local parks and open lands, work more in the garden/house/cars, etc. If I get bored, there's always classes at the local community college and/or volunteer work. My current employment has periods of interest but it can also be very tedious plus having to deal with some extremely difficult co-workers (one of whom prides himself on being anti-social). Well, you get the picture. My main problem has been figuring out how to quite gracefully, because I know they will struggle to replace me, or so I fear. I actually did retire in late 2015 when I was unemployed with no prospects, and then got a call from a company I did some consulting work for and they offered me a salaried job. Been there for three years which is a bit longer than average for me for the past 15 years or so. Maybe I'm being unrealistic but I think life will improve for me in retirement. I got a taste of retirement by taking some time over the past few years between gigs, and I liked it.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 3:35 pmGood luck with your struggle in becoming retired and receiving the benefits you've paid into for decades. I'm two years into being retired, and it's mostly boring. I've gained weight due to inactivity and find the whole thing generally boring. I have considered becoming a bull fighter but I just don't know if I can put on one of those bull fighter outfits and be at ease.Ulysses wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:33 pmThere never was a bigger a-hole than Trump.
Right now I'm being adversely affected by Trump's latest Tantrump. Why?
Well, I don't work for the federal government, but I filed for Social Security about two weeks before the shutdown. My application seems to be in limbo. I've read that while current retirees on SS won't be affected, those who apply will experience delays. Lovely. So... I won't be announcing my retirement to my employer until I start getting the SS checks.
I already waited a year past my full retirement age to file, so the potential higher checks at this point don't mean as much to me. I just want to retire and do something else. Or nothing at all.

Re: President* Trump
Ok, folks, drop your socks and grab your.....well, never mind that. I just read that "president" trump will have a tv show/announcement tomorrow night. This is what will happen: he will tell a few small and medium lies, and then toss the big one....he will declare a state of emergency over immigration at the southern border and assume whatever glory his acolytes throw for that, blame Democrats for the shutdown and the current investigations into his "charitable foundation" and the special counsel inquiry. Then he'll introduce Sean Hannity as the new special adviser on border security and most of the country will end up saying

Re: President* Trump
Given the state of the gofundme https://www.gofundme.com/TheTrumpWall, I'd say it's pretty clear that even his own die hard supporters aren't willing to put their money where their mouth is. Hell, they can't even muster 100,000,000 signatures - no money required.
I seriously doubt anything Trump says will change their mind. I still might watch it in real time for the lol's.

Re: President* Trump
If he declares a state of emergency, he no longer has a reason to keep govt. shut down over wall funding. Then, if the courts void the state of emergency - possible, by no means certain - he's SOoL.bannination wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 5:49 pmWe'll see, I'm really curious where this rabbit hole goes....neoplacebo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 10:43 pmI would bet the farm he's gonna declare a state of emergency but I ain't got no farm and there ain't no emergency.

There are differences of (compentent) opinion as to whether he can make up an emergency - apparently it's never been done, no surprise there. He can "call" an emergency, and he can move around some of the military money, but IMNVHO the "emergency" won't survive court. I think it will be like the rulings on the original Muslim ban - that the President* could restrict travel, but not for the ridiculous racist reasons he had. I think he'll have to produce some believable evidence of actual "emergency" - of which of course there is zipnadazilch.

Beyond that, between the eminent domain fights, state and local government challenges, etc. Etc. It'll be years before any meaningful barrier could be erected, further eroding the emergency factor.O Really wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 6:14 pmThere are differences of (compentent) opinion as to whether he can make up an emergency - apparently it's never been done, no surprise there. Kinda sick of the talking heads taking this seriously. Can't they just call it what it is, Numbnuts is just trying to fulfill a campaign promise, Congress (Dems and Pubs) won't let him and he's gonna cry about it till 2020. End of story.

An observation:
The overwhelming support from the pubs in Congress, governors along the border states and local government in the affected areas is kind of deafening.
Who's with Ol' Yellowstain (and his Whitehouse minions) besides the Faux News talking heads, Limbaugh and Coulter?

If only..... his campaign promise was that Mexico would pay for it.
