The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Well this what O Really said:
"...it could just be Mardi Gras where lots of straight guys wear outrageous costumes."

To which I replied that "Dressing up to be silly is one thing; dressing up to flaunt perversion is another."
O Really wrote:"Are you offended by the costume or your guess as to what the guy does in bed, if anything? "
I don't care, nor want to know what "the guy" does in bed. What is sickening is when they publicly flaunt their perversions and near nakedness in the form of parades or other public venues. The same can be said about "entertainers" today.....

Seems one can't be a comedian unless he/she's spewing a line of filthy language out at a half-drunken audience,
A music video can't be made without a bunch of half-naked bimbos mimicking the sex act on a stage,
A "rap" is nothing more than a glorification of drugs, sex, lawlessness, theft, or 'hot' cars,
Country music deals mostly with running around with someone else's wife, or someone running around with yours,
TV shows are gearing more and more to homosexual behavior; oh, BTW, there was an article in Yahoo the other day that I meant to link to, but when I got the chance, it was gone. Seems there was an uproar about a TV show that showed two 14 year-old boys kissing. Each boy was the adopted son of lesbian couples...what kind of message is that sending? Sounds to me like lesbians are encouraged to teach their adopted kids to hate the opposite sex. hmmmm.

So you have no problem with the Log Cabin Republicans who don't "flaunt their perversions and near nakedness"? Or how about people you've known for years and then find out they're gay - like Jim Nabors. Does your view of him change?

...Sounds to me like lesbians are encouraged to teach their adopted kids to hate the opposite sex. hmmmm.
Nope. Most probably don't. But even if they did, it doesn't work that way. Imagine yourself being "taught" to be sexually attracted to boys in your youth. Would it have worked?

No, dummy, I'm saying that about you since your oath to country, the Constitution and God mysteriously vanished as soon as you mostly stopped getting paid. I'm sure that most soldiers and vets take their solemn oath more seriously than you do.
You dishonor vets by pretending that your whoring represents all of them. Shame.

You're a liar. It's plain to see what you said. You clearly stated that veterans were "whoring" when they took the military oath.

So many of these discussions are about Mr.B prolonging a losing argument with the English language.
Whoopee...you've learned a new line! You're already sounding like a broken record.
Only because you're so illiterate, as you just proved again.
Because I respect it and care about it (the Constitution) without an oath to God that I could renege once I stopped whoring like you.

You gonna deny again you said that I was whoring because I was in the military?

Ummm, you're the one that dodged Vietnam. I merely chose against peacetime service in favor of working to create fewer dead and maimed vets.
Making sure, of course, you were hidden from military service.

See above. So many of these discussions are about Mr.B prolonging a losing argument with the English language.
It's hard to speak the English language when you're conversing with a moronic idiot.
Mr.B wrote:I've not been paid to "uphold the Constitution" in almost 50 years;"
Half-truth, as usual.
How so?

You still get VA benefits.
Which burns your jealous ass.
Fantasizing about me, again.
You get turned on rather easily don't you? Do you think everyone is fantasizing about you?

....and I don't have to cite any oath....

You already did. I'm not surprised that the point re still sucking up the bennies despite having renounced your oath either went sailing over your head or is being run away from by your cowardly ass.
My cowardly ass...? You were the runner, and because former military receive benefits you shunned, you're jealous as hell, and all you know to do is sit around and whine pitifully about the real men who did earn them. Own it.

You might as well (cry)... Just like with blacks and women, your pathetic ilk has lost again.
Lost what?
The fight to retain your pathetic desires for discrimination in law and policy. You've lost track, again, or your cowardly ass is pretending that you have.
Hee Hee... ... My remark about your "cowardly ass" really got you wound up, didn't it? Even taught you a new phrase of the month'...

I've never bad-mouthed the Constitution you crap all over because you're so obsessed with gays.
Let's see...."whoring".... You just bad-mouthed those who swore to defend the Constitution. You use that phrase "so obsessed with gays" as whiny-assed crutch because your simple-mindedness is so obsessed with it yourself.

No, dummy, I'm saying that about you since your oath to country, the Constitution and God mysteriously vanished as soon as you mostly stopped getting paid. I'm sure that most soldiers and vets take their solemn oath more seriously than you do.
At the time, I TOOK the oath seriously. As you can't seem to fathom, I'm no longer bound by that oath.

So...if what you are whining about is true, I challenge any of the others here who are veterans to give an honest answer to that accusation. How about it Vets...any of you still bound by the military oath??? Honestly? [/b][/color]
"Gays" is just your crutch....
 Fantasizing about me, again. They are your obsession, though, but your cowardly ass can't admit it.
I said nothing about you being "gay"; but you seem to keep your thoughts on my ass. Forget it; it ain't happening.

I just defend the Constitution while saving lives and easing suffering, no need for swearing to sky fairies, especially since you prove that one can just ignore an oath to God once the money mostly stops rolling in.
A heroic legend in your own mind. So...if God is a "sky-fairy", I've nothing to worry about, huh? ...
Well, you could stop being such a gay obsessed (hmmm) miserable bigot in this life, but you won't.
And the same could be said about you as well; you made "gays" your life's interest while choosing to belittle anyone who sees the subject for what it really is.

However, if there is a God and s/he is tolerant and compassionate and was serious about the nonjudgmental mandates you've cherry picked away, you've got lots to worry about.
You can betcha sweet bippy there's a God, and He demands love and compassion for one another; He also demands to shun that which is un-Godly; and what He inspired the writers to call Un-Godly is spelled out very clearly; despite the cries of "cherry-picking".

I'm philosophically opposed to organized killing and imperialism, but I "ran" from nothing and the military never came after me like it would have you if you didn't select a cushy, safe service first.
The only thing you're "philosophically opposed" to is being a man; rather, you're a wimp who did run,
Ummm, you're the one that dodged Vietnam.
Not by choice.
I merely chose against peacetime service in favor of working to create fewer dead and maimed vets.
By demonstrating at the airports when they came home?

...and the military didn't come after you because they didn't want a wuss who glorified sexual perversion.
You're fantasizing about me, again. There was no draft like you dodged and I didn't think much about gays one way or the other back then.
Do I really want to know what changed your mind? No.

My "cushy, safe job" wouldn't have been so "cushy-safe" had I been able to fulfill my goal.
You did avoid Vietnam, I'm glad you fulfilled that much.
I suppose I could say thank you for that.

In fact, my seafaring career was far more risky than your Navy career, the one that got you out of going to Vietnam when other boys were killing or being killed.
Any sea-faring job is risky.
In general, not ones that never see ice, the IDL, the Equator or the Roaring Forties.
It was a job that allowed you to get out of going into military service and having a man's career.
My seafaring came long after I was too old for the military, while you were fixing appliances, and you did not make a "career" out of the military. You've screwed up, again.
Not really; I made a very good living. Not many appliance techs receive national recognition and awards from the major manufacturers for their efforts and skills. Even at my age, I'm still getting calls wanting to know if I want to come out of retirement.
No screw-ups there.

"So help me God" in that oath means "with God's help, I defend this oath of allegiance"....
Wussy dodge, but I guess "with God's help" is pretty useless since you've now discarded your oath.
Not to mention I've discarded the job.

I sure do - people like you whose oaths can't be trusted and who would deliberately trample on the Constitution.
"Trample" meaning not to support the rise of perversion and decadence?
Equality is in the Constitution you now trample on. Civics much?
Not since school.

We get it already, neither God nor the Constitution matter as much to you as your obsession with gay sex.
That whine again? We get it already, neither the Constitution or anyone else's opinions matter as much to you as your obsession with "gay" sex.
So stupid, I'm the one defending the Constitution here. You fail just about every time you try to mimic me.
Mimic you? I've got better goals in my life.

Just their rights under the Constitution that you wipe your ass with. :crybaby:
You're hallucinating again...I've never "wiped my ass" with a "gay". Never touch the things.
So stupid, the Constitution is the subject. You fail just about every time you try to paraphrase me.
"Stupid is as stupid does" © You understood it perfectly.

Off to work saving the lives of and easing the suffering of vets and others,
Thanks for what you do.....Have a good evening and be careful.

I'll deal with the rest of Mr.B's whiny, dishonest, illiterate, gay obsessed, stupidity later.
You shouldn't call yourself such names.

As a veteran, and one who took "the oath" I can say it's not something I normally think about on a daily basis. The military "oath" is more of a formality and an "official" affirmation of your loyalty to your country than anything else. When I was in the military, it was my job to be ready to fight for my country at any time. When I became a civilian again, I was not issued a uniform or a weapon, and was not required to take another oath. I have always felt respect and admiration for the principles our country was founded on, and I also feel a great respect and honor for those who have died defending those principles. And whether those who have made that sacrifice of themselves were Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, or cannibals makes no difference to me. What I do have a problem with is some of the public officials these days, who have also taken an oath. It seems to me that some of them have taken an oath to themselves or their handlers prior to taking their oath of office. This, to me, is what I find offensive. You cannot honor an oath to your country and at the same time honor an oath to forces that seek to weaken or subvert or sidestep the principles of our country. So vote for me and I will put a stop to this bullshit.

Right on...

When I was in the military, it was my job to be ready to fight for my country at any time.
As stated, to defend your country...... and the Constitution if it came under attack.
Did you consider yourself to be "whoring" for your country?

When I became a civilian again, I was not issued a uniform or a weapon, and was not required to take another oath.
Or be required to adhere to the oath you already took; unless you were put into a reserve status.

I have always felt respect and admiration for the principles our country was founded on, and I also feel a great respect and honor for those who have died defending those principles.

Well said. I haven't put much thought along those lines, but in looking back, those differences in race, religion, ideologies, or dining habits had no bearing in how I viewed the Constitution.

What I do have a problem with is some of the public officials these days, who have also taken an oath. Another reason that I have no respect for politicians and why I don't waste my time going to the polls.

No, I didn't consider myself to be "whoring" for my country. However, if you stop and think about it, when one signs the papers, takes the oath, and begins to serve a certain term or enlistment in the military, one is, in socioeconomic terms, pretty much a slave. You are subject to being directed to do anything you are ordered to do, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may not agree with what you're asked to do or you may not like what you're asked to do, but you are required to do it under threat of punishment via an entire separate system of justice that non military citizens are not subject to. One could choose to describe that situation in various ways, I suppose. But, no, I never thought of myself in terms of being a whore, because that implies, to me, one that is being screwed or otherwise used for money. But again, it comes down to just a choice of words....And when I run for office, I will represent the BDP (Bullshit Denied and Prohibited) Party, which to my knowledge, does not yet exist.

There's a good chance that it originally did come from a gay website, but it makes no difference whether it's from a gay website or from a gay section on a more general website - it's still the result of your obsessive search for pics of gay men. You have searched for, found and posted more gay pics than the rest of the forum combined since its start.
Because it's so funny to see grown, mature ( :?: ) men making themselves to look absolutely ignorant, while believing in their confused minds that they are attractive. One doesn't have to have an obsession, nor is it difficult to find anything outlandish on the Internet, whether it's a news item or some dingle-berry guy flittin' around in bra and panties.

Since the subject at hand, which you keep stirred up, deals with perverts, just type to show an example. See how easy that was?
Now, carry on with you mountain to molehill blubbering...next whine?

Each boy was the adopted son of lesbian couples...what kind of message is that sending?
The same exact message that we've seen hundreds of times with young straight love.
Sounds to me like lesbians are encouraged to teach their adopted kids to hate the opposite sex. hmmmm.
I doubt there's any hate for the opposite sex there. You're just projecting your own hate, again, hmmmm.
Well you corrected me on the ages; guess you had you eyes glued to the show, huh? No surprise.
No uproar from me; I didn't watch it, but the Yahoo blogs were full of "losers"... including "gays" who disapproved of the showing.

Well, either way, the "encouragement" wouldn't work. If the boys "caught the gay" then they'd love women. They'd go shopping with them, they'd help them decorate their homes, they'd do their hair, they'd be their BFF's. What real homosexual males do you know that hate women? Do you seriously think lesbians generally hate males? Seriously?

To be fair, some lesbians do hate males, much less so now than decades ago, but that's not the cause of or the explanation for their lesbianism. Rather, it's the result of their tendency to an increased awareness of historical and ongoing repression of women. Homosexual males don't have the same motivation.
Some hetero women hate males, too, but in both cases I'd say it's a minority. And likely resulting more from personal life experiences than sexual orientation.

I've often wondered if any of those mega-church pastors are actually non-believers pretending to be religious to get that paycheck. Surely there has to at least be a few, right?

WTF?!:
I mean, I thought about when we first built ‘the Dome,’ I wanted to put some of those little moving bars and give everybody a little card. They’d stick it in a little computer slot. If they were tithing, beautiful music would go off and, you know, ‘Welcome, welcome, welcome to the World Dome.’

But ... if they were nontithers, the bar would lock up, the red and blue lights would start going, the siren would go off, and a voice would go out throughout the entire dome, ‘Crook, crook, crook, crook!’

Security would go and apprehend them, and once we got them all together, we’d line them up in the front and pass out Uzis by the ushers and point our Uzis right at all those non-tithing members ’cause we want God to come to church, and at the count of three Jesuses we’d shoot them all dead. And then we’d take them out the side door there, have a big hole, bury them and then go ahead and have church and have the anointing.

Aren’t you glad we’re under the blood of Jesus? Because if we were not under the blood of Jesus, I would certainly try it.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

Restaurants could refuse to serve gay or interracial couples, city clerks could refuse to marry interfaith couples, hotels could keep out Jews, housing developments could keep out black people (Genesis 9:18-27), pharmacies could refuse to dispense birth control, banquet halls could turn away gay weddings, schools could specifically allow anti-gay bullying, and employers could fire anyone for any “religious” reason.
For Mr. B, looks like heaven is in Georgia.

I'm sure it's possible. I've known a few pastors that were religious for years, but like everyone else that studies the bible for long enough, became atheists. They truly enjoyed being there for people, and that job was all they've ever known. They kept at it, but not because of the money, at least in my opinion.

Yeah I can get behind that. I guess you can think of them as a therapist of sorts. They make their congregation feel better, have a positive impact on their lives, and probably help them get through tough times with spiritual guidance. Nothing wrong with that so long as they're not all about the $$$.

I'd say every single one of them is, at best, so thoroughly cynical that they either don't believe or just plain ignore all the tenets of their eponymous religion in regards to wealth. Mostly, I just think they are ALL crooks and liars. But why limit that scam to just mega-church (and by extension, televangelist scammers) preachers and their hangers-on? I'd guess most any church large enough to pay a preacher a full-time salary is liable to get one who's looking for full time pay without have to actually work for it. True 47%ers.
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.
