Is the "Tea Party" still a "big deal" or has it died away? I haven't heard much about it lately, it might need another Koch cash infusion.

Only one question for anyone complaining about the shutdown - who did you vote for? If it's a Republican, you got what you voted for. Missed the Honor Air flight? Who did you vote for? Republicans stay home. Rutherford County kids miss a trip to Gettysburg or DC? Who did you (or your parents) vote for? If it's McHenry, tough, stay home. Can't go to the Smokies or drive the Parkway? If you voted for Meadows, stay home and shut up.

That can't be true - Meadows says "his constituents" support the shutdown in the quixotic crusade against "Obamacare." Surely nobody could really ask him to put his own money where his mouth is.

Meadows will never realize "his constituents" are, in fact, pigeons.

But yeah, I'll take P-Lo over Bohner 7 days a week, and Obama over any of the other, umm, "candidates" who wanted his office. I'm not a particular fan of Reid, but right now he's doing his job pretty well.

Of course he would. He would have been owned by the same people that own the other Republicans. I'd like to see the opinion of anybody who thinks Miller would have voted against a shutdown.

Is he just that ignorant, or does he know exactly what he's doing? I can't ever tell anymore. These guys are so loony.Vrede wrote:Midwest lawmakers: Don't blame me for shutdown
Is Meadows (R-NC11) running from shutdown involvement?
...CNN called him the “architect of the brink” in an article last week, referring to a letter Meadows penned in August in which he suggested to Republican Party leaders that they work to dismantle Obamacare by hobbling federal funding.
The letter cited founding father James Madison’s assertion that “the power over the purse, may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon ... for obtaining a redress of every grievance ...”
Meadows then got 79 fellow House members to sign it, and he forwarded it to House leadership. CNN also noted Meadows led a group of 40 congressmen to demand the “short-term government funding bill at issue, zeroes out funding for President Barack Obama’s signature domestic policy achievement so far.”
Seems pretty straightforward, huh? Meadows wanted a shutdown of the government rather than see the Affordable Care Act go into full implementation, right?
Not so fast, says the freshman legislator, who represents most of Western North Carolina.
“The focus on my influence has been greatly overstated,” he told me Thursday.
He acknowledged sending the letter and pushing for the defunding. But he didn’t want to touch the governmental shutdown with a 10-foot tent pole — you know, like the ones used by campers who got booted out of the Great Smokies last week.
“Do I ever want to be blamed for a shutdown? The answer is no, because for me I picture every single person that could potentially be affected,” Meadows said...

Lets review a few inconvenient facts for you liberal numbnuts:
Fact 1: The republicans voted mulitple times to fully fund the government except Obamacare. Harry Reid and the dims refused to pass those bills.
Fact 2: The republicans are now voting to fund parts of the government item by item. Harry Reid and the dims refuse to even VOTE on those bills
Fact 3: The republicans are calling for conferees and negotiators from the dims. Harry Reid and Obama refuse to negotiate.
It seems that the actual facts point out that Obama and Reid are the ones responsible for the shutdown and its continuation. I know facts are not a strong suit for you idiots, but ya'll keep dreaming that republicans are hurting themselves while looking at knee jerk poll results. The American people are on to your shenanigans and it aint gonna play pretty for your ilk

Yeah dumb ass, that's the point. The ACA was already law. Being sore losers and refusing to pass a budget because you're pissed you lost a previous battle is cowardly and dishonest, not to mention anti-American. Only morons like you don't get this.Roland Deschain wrote:Lets review a few inconvenient facts for you liberal numbnuts:

Hey dumbfuck....no previous congress can hold other future congress responsible for funding, and it is the responsibility of the House to fund government as they see fit. It is in the Constitution, look it up. That is if you can read. Notice how there was no effort to refute the FACTSOmbudsman wrote:Yeah dumb ass, that's the point. The ACA was already law. Re: Wingnutties out of control!
Are you really this stupid? Must be a former homeschooler. The ACA legislation was already passed through the democratic process. You can't just choose to defund current programs because you don't want to fund something already passed into law. It's really amazing how goddamn clueless you are. (Poor Roland needs to stick to drooling over guns. That's the only topic he comprehends.)Roland Deschain wrote:Hey dumbfuck....no previous congress can hold other future congress responsible for funding, and it is the responsibility of the House to fund government as they see fit.
