Re: The Religion Thread
I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of "retired pope" jokes.
Sarah Palin stepped down as governor to become a talking head on Fox. And now Pope Ratzinger is stepping down, immediately after Palin's spot at Fox opened up. Cooincidence?

Between his career in a religious theocracy and his previous career in the Hitler Youth, he'd fit right in with Pat Buchanan and friends.

I'm surprised the cons haven't been wanting to nominate Obama for the apologies.rstrong wrote:CBC: Oddsmakers have Canadian as leading pope candidate
Maybe now we'll get some apologies.

When will Obama's apologies start? What will he apologize for?Leo Lyons wrote:If the shoe fits; but hey, it's your idea. Wouldn't want to steal your thunder.bannination wrote:I'm surprised the cons haven't been wanting to nominate Obama for the apologies.
We went from Republicans claiming that Obama would be apologizing to the world for whatever reasons, to them claiming that Obama has apologized to the world for whatever reasons. But the actual apologies haven't yet happened.

I do give the guy credit for realizing that old age and poor health would make it
hard to him to do all his duties, and that he didn't stay until he had one foot (and
then two) in the grave.
I was surprised when I read about that Lutheran pastor in the newspaper. You'd
think they'd better pretty well over that stuff by now. Guess not.

Start with the fact that he suddenly 'supports' gay marriage; a ploy that got him re-elected. Why couldn't he admit he needed a reason to get the queer vote, which as shaky until then.rstrong wrote: When will Obama's apologies start? What will he apologize for?

(Mitt Romney's father was born in Mexico. Anyone calling Obama a "Kenyan" would have to conceed that Romney is a Mexican.)

The student responsible for making this happen just won the Troublemaker Award, which comes with $10,000.rstrong wrote:Orleans Parish School Board votes to ban creationism.
The policy says: "No history textbook shall be approved which has been adjusted in accordance with the state of Texas revisionist guidelines nor shall any science textbook be approved which presents creationism or intelligent design as science or scientific theories."
It stresses the separation of science and religious teachings:
"No teacher of any discipline of science shall teach any aspect of religious faith as science or in a science class. No teacher of any discipline of science shall teach creationism or intelligent design in classes designated as science classes."
Zack plans to use the $10,000 awarded to him to increase the impact and reach of his campaign. The funds will greatly aid Zack’s most recent venture to call for accountability on the issue of millions of dollars in school vouchers being spent to fund schools across the US that teach creationist ideas. He also plans to use this money to help build the Second Giant Leap movement, which calls for a permanent end to science denial legislation and for a trillion dollars of new science funding in the next decade.
