Wow, I thought he'd go for one more run at a ring.
But, more power to him. He has no more mountains to climb.
(Brady's
) Dad says, "Not true."
I don't begrudge his going for a two-fer, but another playoff loss or even not making the playoffs would highlight a decline. Instead, he goes out pretty much still on top, with everyone knowing that he was capable of another SB win if he wanted.
Funny, just last night I heard a TV news guy saying the opposite:
1. He would want to go out on top.
Pffft. That minimizes how difficult it is to win the SB, and IMO one of the top 8 teams in the NFL and just 4 points away from being one of the top 4 teams
is kinda on top.
2. Maybe anger over the premature retirement rumor will cause him to react by staying.
Pffft. World's pettiest reason for a momentous life choice.
Oh well, egg on TV news guy's face now.

... Actually, some guys who spent the vast majority of their time with one team and then played for somebody else toward the end of their career have signed one-day contracts to retire as an original team member. Somebody's still bitter over something.
Different TV news guy says that's still possible. Me: Why not for a home exhibition or regular season game next season?
