The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Sounds like a fare jumper problem. Buy a token first.

That's up quite a bit since the last time I bought one. I don't mind
going to Hell, just as long as I don't have to go through Brooklyn
to get there. 8-)

It's been a while since there were tokens at all. Now you have to get a metro card whether you go through Brooklyn or not. I think it's $3.00 for a single fare. I've got an "employee" pass for PATH and a NJ Transit app, but the subway is still pretty manual. I'm thinking if you wanted a "Hellish" $6.66 ride you can just take MetroNorth to New Haven.

Like I said, it was a long time ago. Three bucks sounds
about right. 666. Oh no, the Sign of the Dyslexic. :o

We used to call the neighbor's kid "the little antichrist."

In his defence, the number on his forehead was 665.

Damn, rstrong. You've got one hell of a heritage. Small wonder you don't know dignity.

There's a US Highway 666 out West. Maybe that's the highway to Hell? I can't find anything on those stairs though.

So the stairs start a couple thousand feet off the ground, and each step is a couple hundred feet high. Heaven is entirely inaccessible. Given what's done in God's name and what's commanded by the Bible's earthly writers and editors, that's probably wise.

I know someone that joined a church in order to get a chunk of money off of a gym membership. Is that a sin or just laudable thrift and proper care for the body God gave him?

It's sinful greed; Biblically known as filthy lucre.

Someone told me once that they were looking for a church that had a good sports program for his kids.
I believe in reality, he was looking for a Sundays and Wednesdays babysitter.

What if one were to join a church just to get into heaven though?

Happens every day. Most religious folk believe God is that easy to fool.
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

Yup. That's not the sort of thing you can fix by shuffling him to a different unsuspecting parish.
