The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

What's an "earwig"...in the sense you've used it?

I think that's anything irritating to the ear; example; Slayer, The Kendall's, etc.

(Personally, I'll take the Kendall's, I can understand the words, and the "music" is easy on the ears)

I treat my body like a temple. Specifically an Islamic temple that went through a Bush administration.

If Only There Was Somewhere He Could Have Turned for Moral Guidance:

Suspended Catholic Monsignor Kevin Wallin, 63, was sentenced in May to more than five years in prison for running a meth distribution ring from Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he also operated a sex shop to launder the drug profits. (Though he faced a 10-year sentence, he had a history of charity work and submitted more than 80 letters of support from high-ranking clergy.)

I've wondered how to help comfort a grieving mother who has lost her baby, now I know.

"As far as God's concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Josef Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease. God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he's a baby, he's going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn't a bad thing."
-- Pat Robertson

Meh, your kid was going to be a Hitler. That should help.

It does beg the question, though - Why didn't God kill baby Hitler and Stalin, all the baby serial killers and those who later died of hideous diseases?

Everybody knows Hitler was a bad guy. It's no secret he did lots of bad things and ruined a lot of lives. But in the end we must not forget that he did kill Hitler.

Likewise Lavrentiy Beria, chief of the Soviet security and secret police during Stalin's purges, is known as the greatest anti-communist of all time. Can you name someone who killed more communists?

Oklahoma court: Ten Commandments monument must come down

A Ten Commandments monument on the Oklahoma Capitol grounds is a religious symbol and must be removed because it violates the state's constitutional ban on using public property to benefit a religion, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.... 7-2 ...

Since the original monument was erected in 2012, several other groups have asked to put up their own monuments on the Capitol grounds. Among them is a group that wants to erect a 7-foot-tall statue that depicts Satan as Baphomet, a goat-headed figure with horns, wings and a long beard. A Hindu leader in Nevada, an animal rights group, and the satirical Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster also have made requests....

I'm kind of sad that this was decided, because I really wanted to go to Oklahoma to see the bapbomet statue and get my picture taken with satan.

Now I have no reason to ever visit Oklahoma.

If I were Satan, I'd probably reside in Delaware, since that's the last place you'd expect to find the devil lurking about.
