It's the economy, stupid.

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Some local effects of sending the United States to the scrap heap:

https://www.ecustatrail.org/news/brevar ... arch-2025/
On Wednesday, March 26, members of the Brevard Ecusta Trail Advisory Board (ETAB) received an update on the two federal grants – RAISE and NSFLTP – the city had received for the trail, but have been frozen by the Trump administration.

Brevard City Manager Wilson Hooper said he received an email via former state representative Chuck McGrady, an advocate for the trail, from the DOT stating that both grants are “under review at the federal level.”

Hooper said the grants do contain some of the things the president objects to, “like bicycle infrastructure.”
Crap. Idk if it goes forward without the federal grants :( . People have been working for this for 20 years.

I was under the impression it was mostly done with hurricane repairs delaying it.

Maybe not. Fta:
... (Brevard City Manager Wilson Hooper) said regardless of what happens with the two federal grants, they should finish with the design phase so that the city will at least have the plans “on the shelf.”

... “I have no idea,” said (Lonnie, who is overseeing the project in coordination with the NCDOT) Watkins, who suggested the board continue moving forward on its present course. He suspects they may have an answer when they request to draw funds for construction, which is about 6-7 months away....

“I don’t think we want half a trail,” said (Ecusta Trail Advisory Board Co-Chair Aaron) Baker....
Could be the Henderson County end is further along.

MEGA, Make Earth Great Again  :

World reels, markets plummet after Trump's 'Liberation Day' tariffs unveiled

Will someone just invade us already, please? The consequences of not playing nice:

US officials object to European push to buy weapons locally

Feed the US merchants of death, nothing else matters.

I don't know that they will, nor do I know why they wouldn't, but if I were selling anything I'd separate the tariff effect on the invoice/receipt like they do taxes. If you buy something now, you get a price of goods/services - $100.00 - then you get add-ons - tax $10.00, delivery $5.00, CA general principle tax $2.00, etc. I'd add another line for Trump Tariff $25.00.

Every invoice and receipt should clearly show the effect of the tariff and who did it.

So the "reciprocal tariffs" aren't really reciprocal on tariffs at all.

That's some wild math, helluva way to run a railroad.

If I had to guess I'd say that goddamn idiot Peter Navarro came up with those numbers. Probably had them memorized on the wall where he wrote them during his time in federal prison for being a fucking asshole who thought he was above the law. At least he has a perfect record; never been right about anything. That's why he's in the trump administration. When you've got Peter Navarro, you've really got something. Hilarious
