1st Georgia Senate runoff poll shows both races essentially tied

... In the regular Senate race, Sen. David Perdue (R) and Democrat Jon Ossoff are tied with 49 percent support, with just 2 percent of voters still undecided. And in the special race to fill retired Sen. Johnny Isakson's seat, Democrat Raphael Warnock narrowly beats Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R), 49-48. Just 3 percent of voters are undecided in that race....

Most expensive runoffs ever? So far, I'm only seeing Ossoff ads.

It will all be about turnout rather than persuasion. Who can enthuse their team, or perhaps more importantly who can discourage their opponents' voters?

CA's population was still relatively low, just 10 out of 483 members of the Electoral College, not a huge effect on total turnout.

The 1908 US turnout was 65.4%, not very different from the 65.2% 1904 turnout. More interesting is to me is the 1912 turnout drop to 58.8%, despite the excitement of:

Michigan lawmakers pledge to 'follow the law' on picking electors after meeting with Trump

... Michigan’s Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield (both Repugs) issued a statement upon leaving a highly unusual White House meeting that has been criticized by Washington lawmakers of both parties.

“The Senate and House Oversight Committees are actively engaged in a thorough review of Michigan’s elections process and we have faith in the committee process to provide greater transparency and accountability to our citizens,” a joint statement from the two committees read. “We have not been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan’s electors, just as we have said throughout this election.”

Trump has sought to convince Republicans in the legislatures of key battleground states he lost to President-elect Joe Biden to go against the vote totals and select electors that could overturn Biden’s lead in the Electoral College. Such a move would be unprecedented in U.S. history.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a briefing Friday that the visit from the lawmakers was not about the election results.

“There will be no one from the campaign there, he routinely meets with lawmakers from all across the country,” McEnany said.

On Thursday, the Trump campaign announced it was dropping a lawsuit it had filed in Michigan because it had been successful in halting the certification of results in Wayne County, which includes Detroit. That claim was not true, as Wayne County did certify Biden the winner earlier that day.

As a result, the campaign’s only remaining way of winning the state was to convince Republican lawmakers to ignore the votes of their constituents....

Not that there was ever any real world doubt, but both Mich and GA are now confirmed blue. Final word on WI, PA and AZ is still pending, but the courts have shot PINO down every time - over 30 rulings. Note: One lower court ruled in PINO's favor on a minor issue, but the PA Supreme Court shot that down, too.

Most politicians, especially of the Republican gender are herd animals without spines with a very strong flight instinct. It sort of explains it but certainly does not make it understandable. For all their flag waving they epitomize unamerican.
