Houston 63 @SMU 77. Damn, I thought I was looking at a basketball score for a moment there.
No wonder.
SMU and Houston combine for most regulation points in FBS history in 77-63 battle

... SMU quarterback Tanner Mordecai finished 28-for-37 for 379 passing yards and nine — yes, nine — passing touchdowns, plus 54 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground....

Houston quarterback Clayton Tune was arguably even more prolific, going 36-for-53 for 527 passing yards and seven touchdowns, but his three interceptions represented the majority of SMU's stops during the game.

Tune also had 111 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 attempts, while SMU running back Tyler LaVine had 146 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Houston averaged 10.0 yards per play for the game, while SMU had only 7.8 yards per play, with the two teams combining 1,357 yards on the night. And one punt.

Bowl projections: Can the Pac-12 get a team into the College Football Playoff?

Can someone run the table in the Pac-12 over the final four weeks of the season?

The conference has three teams with a chance to make the College Football Playoff. Oregon, USC and UCLA are all at 8-1 through the first 10 weeks of the season and in the top 12 in the CFP rankings. If either of those three teams can win its final three regular season games and the Pac-12 title game then a playoff spot is likely.
Huh, not just possible, but "likely."
... The Pac-12’s best playoff scenario at the moment is to have Oregon and either USC or UCLA win out so two 11-1 teams meet in the title game. That would ensure a 12-1 team at the end of the season and a legitimate shot at the playoff.

We’re going with Oregon to be that team in our latest edition of bowl projections. The Ducks have some work to do; three of their final four games would be against ranked opponents and Oregon State is just outside the top 25. But we think Oregon is playing well enough to make it happen at the moment....
So refugee from Auburn Bo Mix is not just a Heisman contender, but also has a real shot at the playoffs. Funny how that worked out :P . Go Ducks!

Who would get bumped?
GA (1) might be undefeated. :puke-left:
TCU (4) might be undefeated. :puke-left: :puke-left:
That leaves Ohio St. (2) and Michigan (3), who play each other 11/26 in the regular season finale.
We'll see, fingers crossed.

That's cool and all that, but isn't Alabama toward the bottom of the list in per capita and family income? And among the lowest in education and among the highest in poverty rate? How do they afford this palace - particularly knowing Bammer is gonna want a new one bigger.

It definitely counts. For whatever reason the article chose FBS history as its benchmark, perhaps to make the achievement sound more unique and exciting.

Yeah but think of how many millions Auburn's wasted on coaches, plus 92 mil for a football palace - too bad there's nothing better that could be done with $125mill in Alabama. Maybe like, oh, give 3,800 kids a full 4-year ride?

I agree and being at the bottom definitely sucks, but hard not to see it as typical America where even the top 10 fall below the standards of most countries.

"Free College Application Week 2022: Which schools waive fees, how to apply

Alabama high school students have a window of opportunity to apply to colleges across the South with waived application fees.

The Alabama College Application Campaign is being held between October 17-21. An application code to waive fees is required from some schools.

ALCAC was started ten years ago and is a combination of three other initiatives: the Cash for College FAFSA initiative, Alabama College Application Week and the Alabama College and Career Decision Day.

Advocates hope to increase the amount of students applying to and enrolling in colleges, especially first-generation and low-income students.

“Last year, more than 250 Alabama schools participated and nearly 26,000 students applied to colleges nationwide,” said Monica P. Mack, coordinator of ALCAC.

See this link for application codes, contact information and other instructions. The full list of schools participating by state can be found below:

Excellent, but it's "waived application fees." That just leaves tuition, books, lab fees, dorm fees, meal plans, etc.

That's a good program. Period.
Further, though, if a person can't afford the application fee, what realistic chance do they have to afford to attend? But the cost of applications would add up if you're applying to several schools (first choice, back-up, etc.) Back in the Dark Ages, I applied (in preference order) to UNC (legacy and some personal familiarity), University of Miami, University of Pennsylvania (really just to see if I could get accepted), and University of Maryland. (sorry, Vrede, but I really didn't want to go "off" to college in my back yard if I didn't have to)
