Also an absolutely awesome soundtrack.

First ones I thought of were The Big Easy and Sea of Love, both Ellen Barkin. Not saying she's the sexiest star ever, but those were the movies that came to mind.

One of my favorite thrillers, one that also has a great sex scene, is Don't Look Now. Donald Sutherland is one of my all time favorite actors.

I've got a candidate for the single dumbest line ever - it is at least the dumbest I've personally seen....

Me neither. The General (1926 film) is discussed at length in this documentary and several clips are shown. It's called perhaps Keaton's best and "ranked among the greatest American films ever made".

Cool. I recently read a book "Castle on Sunset" about the Chateau Marmont. It was built in 1929 and had always been a sort of cult small hotel located just above what eventually became the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. John Belushi died there in one of the bungalows. Anyway, in the mid sixties when the cops started coming down on the hippies and young people hanging out on the Strip, the book tells about how Stephen Stills went down to see the action of the cops against the young folks and wrote the song "For What It's Worth" after doing so.

Planet of the Apes is one of our most enduring film franchises. I still remember being enthralled with the 1968 original as a tween. There were 4 sequels:
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971)
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973)

None of them matched the original and I don't think that I ever saw them all after the first couple of flops.

Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake was released in 2001. I'm not sure if I ever saw it. It's kind of a dud on Rotten Tomatoes.

Then, along came the prequel series:
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

They're a surprisingly strong set - box office triumphs, award winning and earning universally high critic and audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. I like the first two a lot and just watched War for the Planet of the Apes, which is now my favorite of the three. Well made, and a lot of depth for a monkey movie.

I just watched It (2017 film), and thought it was much better than the 1990 miniseries based on Stephen King's novel.

The film set numerous box office records and grossed over $700 million worldwide, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. Unadjusted for inflation, it became the highest-grossing horror film of all time. It received positive reviews, with critics praising the performances, direction, cinematography and musical score, and many calling it one of the best Stephen King adaptations. It has received numerous awards and nominations ...

I've been disappointed by most Stephen King horror adaptations, but not this one.

Have any of you seen It Chapter Two yet? Does it measure up? The critics don't seem to think so.

Yeah the original was excellent from many perspectives. Pre-CGI, and the costuming and make-up were astounding for the time. Intriguing story and a surprising ending that made the whole story believable (as science fiction goes). I don't think I saw more than one or so of the others, though.

What about that? I just didn't realize what an affinity right wing nutjobs had for simians; I looked for some photos of "lefties" with monkeys but came up empty. It makes me wonder, though, if Ronnie had monkeys in mind when he embraced the trickle down economic concept. If so, I bet the monkeys are pissed. On second thought, he probably had in mind humans that were too stupid to realize what he was advocating and they fell for it.
