How would you know, really? Sure it should help if you knew the next pitch was going to be a slider, but you still have to hit it. And your pitcher still has to get the other team out. And players can't drop infield flies or fumble a ball at the warning strip, or strike out. I think there are way too many variable to say definitively that without the stolen signals the Dodgers would have won.

Should the Astros lose their World Series title?

I'm not making any predictions, but the Los Angeles Dodgers COULD win the 2017 and 2018 World Series titles.

If they took away the title, would they not just vacate it? I don't think they ought to give it to the losing team.
Idk. What's happened to Bowl records when colleges have gotten the death penalty, and does it matter if the cheating contributed to the losses?

If I was an LAD fan I would claim that title, regardless ;) .

You wouldn't, but I THINK if a team is caught cheating during a game it's assumed that it affected the outcome, a forfeit is called and the victimized team wins.

I'm pretty sure that in the Olympics, horse and auto racing cheaters are DQed and the #2s are declared the winners.

Horse racing, yes. Nascar usually just fines them money and points, but they also say "If you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'" so maybe they're the odd one out. Dunno about F1 and Indy. Tour de France vacated Armstrong's titles without giving it to someone else, but twice since has give the title to the runner-up.

I don't care much either way, but I'd probably vote for just stripping the title and taking back anything that came from the win.

I don't care, either, just wondering 'What if?'

If baseball ever manages to have a season this year, it'll be fun to watch managers and umpires argue while social distancing.

Are you watching the ESPN 30 for 30 about the 1998 McGwire-Sosa single season home run record chase? I'm not, I remember being somewhat excited at the time, but then got bummed out by McGwire's admitted and Sosa's suspected steroid use.

It never bothered me one way or another who did or didn't use steroids. If a guy's willing to risk his health, shrink his nuts, and possibly shorten his life, in order to get a marginal and questionable advantage is his sport, then go for it.

I've got it recorded, haven't watched yet.

Pretty good, not great. Didn't really capture the excitement well. Didn't enjoy the modern scenery shots trying to pass off as part of the history.

The last ten minutes sadly had to be told.

Never mentioned, home runs were prolific all over baseball at that time. Everyone thought the ball was juiced, not the players.

Bob Costas is the poet of baseball.

Sammy is still a weird egostistical dude, but he was worshipped in Chicago until the corked bat. That was the beginning of the end.

It'll be weird without fans. Good luck this year.

Cleveland Indians to determine 'best path forward' on name
The baseball team, long criticized over a logo that it dropped last year, suggested it may be exploring changing its name.

Not as bad as the DC nickname, but there's been unfortunate history that may be best left entirely behind.

I know that a lot of the changes have been opportunistic or superficial, and that others have been misguided, but it's still a pretty amazing summer.

When there's enough money for regular testing, aggressive contact tracing and effective quarantining - which is what the entire nation needs - anything is possible.
