Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Someone has to say it:

Bernie Sanders Is Mad as Hell at Joe Manchin’s Corruption, And He’s Not Gonna Take It Anymore
“Manchin [is] intentionally sabotaging the president’s agenda, what the American people want, what a majority of us in the Democratic caucus want,” the Vermont senator said

... This is far from the first time Manchin has torpedoed Biden’s legislative hopes. He opposed an earlier version of Biden’s Build Back Better Act, which included proposals to lower health care costs and expand access, fix immigration, assist families with child care costs, and attempt to address climate change. Manchin’s reluctance to act on climate — despite his recent public claims to the contrary — is fueled by his deeply vested interest in oil and coal. Manchin has fought for years to keep open his state’s dirtiest coal plant while reaping the profits at great expense to his constituents, Jeff Goodell reported for Rolling Stone. “Joe Manchin will absolutely throw humanity under the coal train without blinking an eye,” Maria Gunnoe, director of the Mother Jones Community Foundation and a longtime West Virginia activist, told Goodell. “My friends and I have a joke about his kind: They’d mine their momma’s grave for a buck.”

Found under a TRE45ON article, but applies more generally and further back historically than just him and Trumpettes:
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
-- Frank Wilhoit (the composer, not the political scientist)

I know it seems like Conservatives don't really have any objective principles, but that's because their stated principles are just for show. If you apply Wilhoit's quote to any Conservative action or reaction, you will find that their actions actually are completely consistent with their principles. Their actual principles that is, not the ones they use for a smokescreen.
Spot on, both Wilhoit and the poster.

People tend to try to live in their own versions of the past, attempting to fit today's facts and circumstances into previous conditions. The still call themselves "conservatives" but bear no resemblance whatsoever to those who originated and developed the philosophy. We keep being surprised when they aren't like "conservatives" should be. Wilhoit sees it as it is.

We like to think the United States is still "united" as "one people" but are just having a little rough spot in the relationship. Open eyes see that there is no "united" and if the country can't put aside ideological differences to fight a world-wide pandemic, it ainagonnahappen.

Canada has drooling moon-barkers too, but sometimes they get a refreshing response.
https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-mayo ... -1.6030874

"An Ontario mayor had some harsh words for protesters who attempted to place local police officers under arrest Saturday.
In a tweet published Tuesday, Peterborough mayor Diane Therrien called a group of protesters, led by Canadian conspiracy theorist Romana Didulo, “F*** wads” and told them to “F*** off.”
In her tweet, Therrien said she hates "giving airtime/spotlight to these imbeciles."

Didulo, based out of Victoria, B.C., uses the messaging app Telegram to communicate with a group of over 70,000 subscribers.

Within this group, and in videos online, Didulo has proclaimed herself “Queen of Canada,” “commander-in-chief,” and “Head of State and Government," roles she claims were given to her by the United States military after Queen Elizabeth was executed.

The group is opposed to COVID-19 mandates and during the pandemic, under Didulo’s direction, issued fake cease-and-desist orders to media outlets, politicians, and health-care workers demanding they stop all health measures related to COVID-19.

Teddy was not punched in the nose nearly often enough at that age. It's the old 'What if you could kill baby Hitler?' conundrum.

‘This you?’: the seven letters exposing rightwing hypocrisy
As Biden eases student loan debt for millions, a simple phrase is puncturing criticism from conservatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene

Conservatives are frothing at the mouth over Joe Biden’s decision to forgive $10,000 in student debt for millions, railing against what they call “student loan socialism”. But their carefully crafted tweets have been undermined over and over again with two words: “This you?”

Were there ever seven letters more powerful? On Twitter, the phrase is an instant marker of hypocrisy, cutting down the mighty from politicians to celebrities to brands. It typically comes as a reply to an opinionated tweet, accompanied by a screenshot of an earlier remark from the same person endorsing the opposite point of view....
The conservative advocacy group PragerU
The rightwing Daily Caller
conservative commentator Steven Crowder
Florida congressman Matt Gaetz
Pennsylvania congressman Mike Kelly

That would appear to be the case most of the time. It's too easy to just say "oh, that's different."

Perfect application of that law, if so.

The Whataboutists and the Bothsiders would be competing for the most outrageous statement of the week on fox with increasingly violent real time rants against the liberal violence in the movie aimed at this peaceful conservative political group.

The last time Scott Adams came up in discussion I defended him - maybe not this time. Consider the source (NY Post), but similar articles have been elsewhere.

"‘Dilbert’ author claims ‘woke’ mob is coming for his comic strip as it’s removed from 77 newspapers"
https://nypost.com/2022/09/21/dilbert-a ... ewspapers/

Sounds awful at first glance, eh?
But it wasn't 77 decisions, it was one decision by the company that owns all the papers.

"The artist said several other comic strips were also canceled by Lee Enterprises but each decision was made individually."

The rest of the story?
Spoiler:
Lee Enterprises, for an unstated reason but most likely cost, made the decision across the board for all its papers to cut down the number of comics from 33 to 10. So it's not "several" other strips - it's the 2/3 majority of the strips previously carried. BUT - the rest of the comics will be available in their online e-version. As usual, right-wing self-victimizing and hysteria. Asshole.

Explanation from one of their papers here:

From your first link:
... The cancellation of his comic has also dealt him a serious financial blow.

“It’s substantial,” Adams said.

Ut-oh, there's tension between the human trafficking bigots:
The Megastate GOP Rivalry Between Abbott and DeSantis

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida wanted to irritate a set of wealthy, liberal elites when he flew migrants to Martha’s Vineyard from Texas, delivering them a slice of the humanitarian crisis simmering along the nation’s southern border.

But DeSantis’ stunt also annoyed an entirely different group — fellow Republicans in Austin, including some of the allies and aides of Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas.

... privately, the Florida governor’s gambit stung Abbott’s team. No one in the Texas governor’s office was given a heads-up that DeSantis planned to round up migrants in San Antonio, according to people familiar with the matter.

Abbott had spent months — and millions of state tax dollars — methodically orchestrating a relocation program that, since April, had bused 11,000 migrants to Washington, New York and Chicago. DeSantis’ adaptation was considerably smaller.

But it immediately put the national spotlight on DeSantis, garnering headlines and earning him praise from Republicans and condemnation from Democrats. It also led to an investigation by the sheriff in San Antonio and a lawsuit from migrants who said they had been lured onto the planes under false pretenses. DeSantis grabbed the attention of right-wing America, using Abbott’s tactic, on Abbott’s turf, to bigger and more dramatic effect....

:wtf: Not only is that meteorologic  , but natural disasters almost always benefit pols, especially Governors. Dems and Repubs that follow the script end up looking strong, compassionate, decisive and competent. Even Biden has had to praise DerSantis.

Plus, weather Machiavellians that wanted to suppress RepuQ votes would have targeted billy.pilgrim's hood.
