Re: The Religion Thread
It's possible God himself was gay. The world is a fabulous place. You mean to tell me a straight man designed things as fabulous as a peacocks tail feathers, the color fuchsia, the voice of Freddie Mercury, or coral reefs? Ain't no way. Just ain't no way...
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

Re: The Religion Thread
Good point. There is no conclusion other than God has to be, by definition, either both male and female or neither male nor female. An entity matching the definition of the entity who created the universe can't possibly be just male or female. But if "He" is, then we remember "He" created males first, and females as an afterthought and male derivative. And yes, "He" has certainly done some fabulous design work. And then there was the story of Joseph and the "coat of many colors," not to mention the rainbow itself. Hmmmmm.

I love that O Really has rational arguments for supernaturalists and bigots.

Wait it all makes sense. My foot wear is actually super fabulous nowadays. Maybe this was God's message that when I grew older and gained wisdom I'd one day wear fabulous shoes.Vrede too wrote:I love that O Really has rational arguments for supernaturalists and bigots.![]()

Desperate Plea: Texas Theocrat Says Voting For Trump Is OK Because God Has ‘A Different Standard’
David Barton, the Religious Right’s favorite phony historian, is trying to sell his base on voting for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. But where most of Barton’s allies have resorted to pumping up Trump by dumping on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Barton acknowledges Trump’s flaws – but says they don’t matter because Trump has been chosen by God to lead the United States.
Furthermore, Barton says, if you don’t vote for Trump, God might hold you accountable....

When Hillary wins that means that God is incompetent or that Hillary was "chosen by God to lead the United States", right?

No, Seth, JTA's fabulous gay shoes. Do try and keep up, try hard. I'll leave the male-male sexual fantasies, nttawwt, to you.

Re: The Religion Thread
JTA could provide lyrics for Eagles. Some of my favorites, below...
"I can see you,
Your brown skin shining in the sun
You got that hair slicked back,
And those Wayfarers on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone"
and ...
"I like the way your sparkling earrings lay
Against your skin so brown
And I wanna sleep with you in the desert tonight
With a billion stars all around"

So it was tied in with your analogy. Not thinking as you do; no wonder I'm slow!
Thanks for explaining any way; I feel much better now. Now leave JTA alone.

Tell Your Representative to Co-Sponsor the Do No Harm Act!
We Can Prevent Religion From Being Used to Harm Our Neighbors
You can help fight against corporations and people who use religion as an excuse to harm others. Ask your member of Congress to co-sponsor the Do No Harm Act today!
This bill, introduced by Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA), would ensure that the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) couldn’t be used to exempt people or businesses from adhering to laws designed to ensure basic civil rights and legal protections.
Under the Do No Harm Act, RFRA could not trump laws that
prohibit discrimination,
require equal pay,
ensure access to healthcare, and
protect child welfare.
RFRA could still be invoked to protect religious exercise, but only if it does not harm others ...

The Soapbox business is alive and well; everybody's got an agenda:

Act Now! Fight Back Against the Proposed Muslim Immigration Ban
No doubt you’ve heard—Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and others have vowed that, if elected, they will bar Muslims from entering the U.S. We know that such an unjust, discriminatory, and anti-Muslim policy is wrong.
Act Now! We Can Stop a Bill that Authorizes Discrimination
This disgraceful bill distorts the meaning of religious liberty to sanction discrimination.
Governor Branstad Issued a Proclamation Telling Iowans to Read the Bible
Tell your Governor that you are disappointed that he issued the proclamation and that it violates religious freedom, which is a fundamental American value.
Tell Governor Snyder to Veto Taxpayer Funds for Religious and Private Schools!
This year’s School Aid Budget, which has been sent to Governor Rick Snyder, includes a section that allocates taxpayer funds for private and religious schools to use for things like academic courses, keeping attendance records, college counseling, and even construction of school buildings.
Thank the Missouri Representatives Who Voted NO on SJR 39!
Thanks to you, the House Committee on Emerging Issues rejected SJR 39 with a 6-6 vote.
Thank Governor McAuliffe for Vetoing HB 389
Virginians, you’ve made a difference in your state again! On Tuesday, Governor McAuliffe vetoed HB 389, a voucher program that would have diverted money from public schools to subsidize private and religious schools in Virginia.
Thank Governor Otter for Vetoing SB 1342
Idahoans, your voice was heard! Yesterday Governor Otter vetoed SB 1342, which would have encouraged the use of the Christian Bible in public school classrooms.
Thank Governor McAuliffe for Vetoing SB 41
Virginians, your voice was heard! Today, Governor McAuliffe vetoed SB 41, which would have allowed discrimination in the name of religion.
Thank Governor Deal for Vetoing HB 757
Georgians, your voice was heard! Today, Governor Nathan Deal vetoed HB 757, which would have allowed religion to be used as an excuse to discriminate.

I guess I'm just a "fringe" sort of guy. I always thought I was pretty mainstream - professional job, nice family man, community work, yada. Little did I know I'm a fringe lunatic. Because I support every one of those statements.
