I miss neoplacebo. I think he has a number of those, and the super fine turntable system to play them on.

Gee, thanks, guys. I just don't get in here very much these days......still into music, though. Just recently got Lyn Stanley's "Interludes" record. She does a nice cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" but she leaves out the "....every inch of my love" lineJTA wrote:Yeah what happened to him? Re: The Music Thread
Got it, #1 & #2!
I don't know music that well and only watched snippets through the season. I chalk it up to whatever I know about TV, voting odds and Americans. Mostly - 2 good looking young guys, 1 country (#3) and one pop (#4), split votes. Then, #3 and Emily Ann Roberts split country votes. That left versatile and an atypical "star" Jordan Smith not directly competing with any single other singer for the win.

Well, that just ruined the show for me.Senator Reverses On Checking If Ted Cruz Released Classified Info During GOP Debate (UPDATED)
The leaders of the Senate Intelligence committee said late Wednesday it is not investigating whether Texas Sen. Ted Cruz disclosed classified information during Tuesday night's GOP presidential debate....
Asked to respond to Burr's earlier comments, a Cruz campaign spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, passed along news reports from the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal from 2014 that contained the 20 percent to 30 percent figures Cruz used, along with congressional testimony from an NSA official suggesting the USA Freedom Act could expand the universe of calls available to the agency to search. The material, Frazier noted, is "all publicly available." ...
Burr noted that he had not actually seen the GOP debate exchange in question. "The Voice was on. It was the final episode," he said.

Legendary Punk Club CBGB to Become a Restaurant at Newark Airport
... When CBGB OMFUG opened on Manhattan’s Bowery back in 1973, the grubby but beloved venue launched the careers of many a punk icon, including Blondie and the Ramones — as well as the ambitions of countless teenagers who dreamed of taking the CBGBs stage (and often did).
... the familiar awning will now welcome nostalgic travelers with the most un-anti-establishment menu you can image, including $9 disco fries and $8 kobe chili dogs. The world’s remaining punk rockers are aghast.
... it closed to great fanfare in 2006 with a concert by Patti Smith....

Thirty Years After the 'Filthy Fifteen': Remembering the PMRC Hearing of 1985
... Snider was one of three musicians invited to testify at the PMRC hearing. The other two were Frank Zappa and John Denver, for whom both Al Gore had expressed admiration. Conversely, Al Gore made it clear during his questioning of Snider that he didn’t like Twisted Sister’s music or their lyrics. He specifically mentioned one of the songs by Twisted Sister, “Under the Blade,” which Tipper said was about bondage and sado-masochism. The track included the lyrics: “It’s not another party head, this time you cannot rise/Your hands are tied, your legs are strapped, a light shines in your eyes.”
Snider gleefully pointed out that Tipper had misinterpreted the meaning of the song. “That was one of my favorite moments of the forum,” Snider laughs. “I was very happy to inform them that the song was about my guitar player’s throat operation. He was getting an operation and was scared. I said, ‘I’m gonna write you a song,’ and I wrote ‘Under the Blade.’ So when I gave my testimony, I said, ‘I can’t help it if Ms. Gore has a dirty mind.’ Man, if Al Gore had laser beams in his eyes, he would have blown me out of my seat. He was so upset and he couldn’t really say anything, because he was there as a Senator and she was there as a member of the PMRC. But he was very upset.” ...

Gee, Al, if protecting kids from sex was your goal, you sure screwed up by inventing the internet.

And now, number 7 on the list, Twisted Sister, “We’re Not Gonna Take It” (rejected for violence) is stage music for the leading Republican presidential candidate.

Re: The Music Thread
Not so surprising for a rich old white guy that's "a good Christian, doesn’t drink or do drugs, is married, and has a family", but the funniest thing is that there's no violence in Twisted Sister's “We’re Not Gonna Take It”.
Lyrics
Academic exercise comparing it to The Declaration of Independence.
It's a spiritual! - "Twisted Sister wrote this song to the basic tune of "O Come, All Ye Faithful," later recording the song with the actual lyrics on their album A Twisted Christmas." Ho ho ho.

Found the above trying to learn what "Oh crinch pin" means, which I never did.Mitt Romney's running mate Paul Ryan used the song during the 2012 Republican Party's presidential campaign, causing Dee Snider to air his disapproval. "I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' in any capacity," said the Twisted Sister frontman in a statement. "There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the [workout program] P90X."
Snider, however, had no problem with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump using the the tune as the "exit song" during the politician's 2015 campaign stops. "Donald Trump is a good friend and a great guy, and I support him turning the political system on its head," he told TMZ.com. "The song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' is a song about rebellion, and there's nothing more rebellious than what Donald Trump is doing right now. Although [Democratic presidential candidate] Bernie Sanders can use it as well; he's turning things upside down too."

No idea. May actually be made up. Or "'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings." Or maybe his mind was "tiffany twisted" or affected by the "warm smell of colitas..."Vrede too wrote: Found the above trying to learn what "Oh crinch pin" means, which I never did.
Anyway, there's an old political-type blog named "crinchpin" that has a pic of Dee at the end. Didn't seem to offer any insight as to meaning, though.

Yeah saw that, didn't find the answer there, either. Found other blogs where folks ask the same question - TS' 31-year joke on us.
