Redskins are Deadskins, Atlanta's chop is out, Chief Wahoo has left the building and maybe there won't be Chiefs or Indians. How have the Padres been overlooked in the ethnicity cleansing? The friars (padres) who were part of the California invasion did some major damage to the indigenous population and their culture and land. F'rinstance:

Or not. I'm pretty sure in the overall scheme of national/international issues that sports team names are pretty low on the totem pole. Opps, another cultural misappropriation.

And actually an incorrect usage. On real totem poles, usually the one on the bottom is the first created and the most important.

That's what the Mets (I think) did today. Cardboard fans behind home only.

I don't think they'd need to actually put up cardboard fans. Why couldn't they electronically spread fans into the stands in the same way they superimpose logos, ads, etc. on the field? They guys who came up with the first down lines, the blue-tailed puck, and the strike zone could surely create some fans.
