Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

As I said, a bunch of well placed informative ads on fox would find an audience.

Guard Who Wounded Student in STEM School Shooting Should Not Have Been Armed

A private security guard who officials say accidentally wounded a student during a Colorado school shooting that left one teen dead wasn’t supposed to be armed, an online news outlet reported....

Court records say the guard mistakenly fired two rounds at a sheriff’s deputy in the chaos and one bullet passed through a wall and hit a female student in a classroom....
Not surprised a bit, yet moronic ammosexuals still think it's a good idea to arm teachers.

For those who may have missed it and don't want to waste 10 minutes of their holiday, Texas Governor Abbot's speech about the latest (as of noon PDT) shooting can be summed up like this:

People have guns; people get shot; buck up and buy more guns.

Looks like they're about to run out of excuses other than "guy with anger issues and a high-powered rifle that he got easier than renewing licence plates at the DMV."

The guy apparently had no open warrants or any other obvious reason for trying to avoid the stop. But I think it's way suspicious he'd get stopped only for failure to use turn signal unless by doing so he pulled in front of the cop or looked like he was impaired or something. Hell, if everybody not using turn signals got stopped, there wouldn't be any traffic moving most anywhere.

I get that you're probably joking, but they're more bigoted against Blacks and Hispanics, too. It's a systemic policing thing.

Not particularly - I was going with the theory that he was a white supremacist type person who was about to be pulled over for no good reason by a couple of Black/Hispanic cops. Too humiliating to live with, I guess.

Your article has been edited a bit. He sounds low class, but no real indication of politics yet.

... This is fucked up.
-- Beto O'Rourke
Police say no explanation yet for Texas shooting frenzy

... (Gov) Abbott ticked off a list of mass shootings that have now killed nearly 70 since 2016 in his state alone.

"I have been to too many of these events," Abbott said. "Too many Texans are in mourning. Too many Texans have lost their lives. The status quo in Texas is unacceptable, and action is needed."

But Abbott, a Republican, remains noncommittal about imposing any new gun laws in Texas at a time when Democrats and gun-control groups are demanding restrictions….

Saturday's shooting brings the number of mass killings in the U.S. so far this year to 25, matching the number in all of 2018, according to The AP/USATODAY/Northeastern University mass murder database. The number of people killed this year has already reached 142, surpassing the 140 people who were killed of all last year. The database tracks homicides where four or more people are killed, not including the offender….

"I'm just trying to turn the corner and I got shot — I'm getting shot at? What's the world coming to? For real?"
I suppose one possibility is that he was on his way to do a mass shooting when he failed to signal, maybe even at that movie theater where he was killed. Sure seems that he was emotionally and physically prepared for one.

Lived in a shack out in the sticks, that had a "tower" looking thing on top. "A neighbor of the property told the television station NewsWest9 the man who lived there would shoot off guns at night and one time came to her door with a rifle."

Fits neatly with the "sovereign citizen type" theory, but I've known some lefties and apolitical misanthropes like that.

Everybody always looks for some "rational" reason for this stuff. Political, work dispute, domestic dispute, racial, whatever. But bottom line is that these guys shoot up stuff because they can. The specific reason doesn't matter very much most of the time. Just some angry guy with a big gun that nobody is going to do anything about until after he's shot up a bunch of people.

In the past 48 hours I've seen two reports from Faux News that totally explain all the mass shootings; one, from Tucker Carlson, says it's because of marijuana and he had an "expert" on this who is generally classified as a nutjob by other researchers to explain and advocate that aspect. Another one was from a wacko religious dingbat who says the shootings are because we teach our kids science in school and not enough god. I find both these explanations suspect and do not plan to abandon science or pot in an effort to mitigate these shootings All one can really do is settle in with a gallon of high octane racing fuel and a regimen of deep relaxed breathing.
