They've got SEC refs running the rankings, I guess.

Don't worry, billy.p. If you were a UNC grad instead of Auburn you'd be used to no respect by now. It's painful but rarely fatal.

Here's your game wear

AP Top 25
Auburn is 29 in Coaches Poll.
Could ap be a mistake?
Could be, there are several major differences:
AP - TAMU listed as getting votes without the number posted
Washington State - AP #23, Coaches (26)
Auburn - AP 0 votes, Coaches 23 votes
Maryland - AP 1 vote, Coaches 14 votes
Wake Forest - AP 0 votes, Coaches 13 votes
UCF - AP 0 votes, Coaches 11 votes
There are other contradictions. Those are just teams I'm interested in.
Also - Auburn is usually lower in the Coaches Poll makes me think something is wrong with the ap.
The Tigers @ Cal refs were from the SEC. Figures :x

Nope, Auburn went from some votes after powerhouse UMass to no votes after Cal

No. I was being hopeful for a decent poll spot before our long decent into oblivion after back to back Ta&m, Georgia, lsu and Mississippi

So many reminders of just how bad harsin sucks.

Not only did he run off a great quarterback, but he relegated this guy to the Scout team and the bench.

https://www.al.com/auburnfootball/2023/ ... -week.html

https://flywareagle.com/2023/09/11/aubu ... ntalizing/

"Eugene Asante had 12 tackles and a sack in a narrow but historic 14-10 victory at California Memorial Stadium. After the game, Asante revealed that he was on the scout team under Harsin. That prompted a response on Instagram from Dayn Harsin, one of Bryan’s daughters, claiming that Asante asked to be on the scout team.

Dayn Harsin defends millionaire dad - too funny.

I love this one

As more and more of Harsin's idiocy comes to light, I wonder more and more that he saw a way to make millions of dollars and retire at the same time.

It's an ugly divorce.

Oregon State, Washington State file complaint against Pac-12

Their theory, which sounds plausible to uneducated me, is that they are now the only schools that may determine the Pac-12's future and divvy up its significant assets. If so, serves the greedy traitors right.

If it's not taken out of context, the by-laws seem pretty clear: "...which state that any notice of withdrawal from the league means a school "automatically cease(s) to be a member of the Pac-12 Board of Directors and shall cease to have the right to vote on any matter."

I suppose one could argue about the meaning of "automatically" or maybe about the effective date of a notice of withdrawal, but otherwise it looks like the Cougs and Beavers have a point.
I agree, but we're only seeing the Oregon State and Washington State legal complaint. No rebuttal is presented in this article. Could they decide now that the Championship game will be Cougars vs Beavers? I wouldn't blame them a bit.
Judge grants temporary restraining order to prevent Pac-12 from meeting

A state judge in Washington granted a temporary restraining order on Monday to prevent the Pac-12 conference from meeting as a board later this week.

Judge Gary Libey ruled in favor of Oregon State in Washington State in Whitman County Superior Court after they jointly filed a complaint on Friday that saw the potential of the Pac-12 meeting as a board and voting as an "imminent and existential threat" to the future of the conference.

The ruling for the temporary restraining order both prevents a Pac-12 board meeting scheduled for Wednesday and also sets up a preliminary injunction hearing that is expected to determine who comprises the voting members of the Pac-12 board of directors.

That hearing has not been set, but would likely be scheduled in October. It could include document and email discovery from the Pac-12 and member schools and live witness testimony from prominent officials in and around the Pac-12.

"Today's ruling is an important first step to bring clarity and fairness to Pac 12 governance," said Drew Tulumello, counsel to Washington State and school president Kirk Schulz. "The future of the Pac 12 should be controlled by the schools who stay, not those who go."
Hah! :---P
Oregon State and Washington State have argued that they should be the only voting members remaining in the conference, citing precedent that previous members who've notified the Pac-12 of their withdrawal from the league have lost voting rights.
Ah, not just by-law wording but also precedent.
... In the past 18 months, 10 members have departed the Pac-12. That's left only Oregon State and Washington State to sift through the remaining assets and liabilities as they attempt to determine whether or not it's worth pushing forward with the league. There's value in the league's name, television network, remaining assets and NCAA men's basketball tournament units that could be used as a lure to help facilitate a merger with the Mountain West.
IIRC you suggested before the total meltdown that a couple of Mountain West schools including San Diego State University move to the Pac-12. If there's a merger you were on target but not ambitious enough.
Oregon State and Washington State filed supporting exhibits that included a letter from the Pac-12's general counsel to Colorado in July that informed them explicitly that effective immediately "CU no longer has the right to vote on any matter before the Board." ...
Opps.
... The Pac-12 declined comment.

I'm wrong. They were sec. I thought I heard acc and as I didn't recognize any of them I didn't check any further.

Damn, this makes the 4 pt. ref mistake look even worse.

Same mistake as the ucf bad call, but this time in Auburn's favor. Results were a FG instead of a touchdown. 4 points tie game.

How hard is it to wait until the end of the play to blow the whistle?

Y'all give me a hard time, but my complaints have always been the real thing and if memory serves, except for the ucf bullshit, I'm pretty sure the sec bammer games have been my only complaint.

An entire crew of sec refs was even suspended for trying to throw a game.

Mostly, though there are a few posts about old pro-Florida bias and recent pro-UGA bias, and bias to ensure SEC teams get in the playoffs.

True, it was Florida and bama back when Florida reigned the sec east. The crew that was suspended was seriously trying to help Florida beat lsu. lsu won in spite of bad calls.
The intent has been to get two teams to the top of the rankings.

I've done a very little research, but apparently the visitor supplies the refs unless something else is agreed by contract.

Cal will supply the refs next year at Auburn.

That's the bammer I know and that's exactly why they're so damn much fun to beat. Especially in Tuscaloosa.

It's not the state though, most sec fans rate Auburn and South Carolina as the best visitor experience. I've never been to a USC game, but Auburn fans are welcoming to all, even to bammers.
We do love to piss them off by singing their song.
