2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I'd be thrilled if they were really "Swinging Left", but I think it's more a reflection of how crappy the GOP is.

Yes, but it's still good news. It's hard to get anything much "left" when you have to defend even the most centrist of positions against loud screams of "socialism," "tyranny," and commie apocalypse.

Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee really ARE conservatives and qualified to run the country. Jeb and the rest really ARE liberal socialist RINOS. Just accept that.

I have.

Leaving aside his politics, which is pretty out there, how long will it take Republicans to get that he's a lunatic by any standard?

Yeah, this was in a book he wrote. Not like he was just sitting around bull-shitting with the boyz and says, "I coulda gone to West Point. The woulda give me a scholarship." Nope. This was stupid. Too bad that doesn't fit under the Stolen Valor Act.

He made the claim in his 1996 autobiography "Gifted Hands". He repeated the claim in his recent book, "You Have a Brain." He repeated it in a Facebook post in August, a month ago on PBS's Charlie Rose, and numerous times over the years.

Naturally, he's now claiming that it's "an outright lie" that he ever made the claim, and even denies that the campaign “admitted to anything.”

How do lunatics recognize that one of their own is a fellow lunatic? I mean.... Carson admits that he made up his violent past..... that means by their standards he's even more of a candidate now.

Trolling The Ultimate Troll: Young Black Woman Tunes Donald Trump All The Way Out

... a gentleman asked, “Would you like to sit in VIP?” and she said “Ok, I mean, why not?” She told Jezebel, “I think we were chosen for obvious reasons. We are minorities and there weren’t a lot of minorities there. He also instructed us to sit in the middle, so we kind of already knew what this was.” ...

Trump says he would "absolutely" require national registration of all Muslims and might close down some mosques. To their credit, Bushlet and Kasich have denounced that, as have the Dems. http://news.yahoo.com/republican-trump- ... 00080.html

But here's my question: why hasn't anybody mentioned the little bump in that road called the "First Amendment"? Why, instead of just saying "that's awful" or some variation of that, doesn't anybody say, "You're an idiot, Trump - you'd have to repeal the First to get that done. Are you going to repeal the First Amendment, Donald?"

Qui tacet consentire videtur. He who is silent is taken to agree.

The problem is that this isn't willful silence. It's stunned, fearful silence. Any Republican who contradicts the clown car gets painted as a lib'rul RINO. Even hard-line Republican Newt Gingrich learned this the hard way in 2012 when he took the sane position that the normal compromise was needed. Fox News and the Tea Party came down on him like a ton of bricks. It's worse now, like being in a post-revolution Communist Party. Agree, shut up, or be destroyed as a counter-revolutionary. For traditional non-extremist leaders it's all about survival now. Try to ride it out and go unnoticed until sanity returns.

Well, I would expect at least a whine that "registration of Muslims will lead to registration of guns." As if.

Well, in that case all Obama has to do is remind them that all the refugees arriving from Syria will eventually be allowed to own unregistered guns.
