Wow, you clicked on the Blueridgenow link.
The former officer has been charged. What he did was excessive, once the officers had him in handcuffs under control, he should have been put him in back of the squad car. This officer’s behavior does not justify what happens to these cities.

After 3 years of Trump divisiveness and derision, 3 months of sorta quarantine, loss of jobs, general fear, there's a lot of pent-up anger and frustration around. Floyd was as much a catalyst as a cause. Was WWI entirely about Archduke Franz Ferdinand? Nope, but it was a good start.
At least the protesters/rioters weren't whining about not being able to get their mani-pedi.

Re: Censoring is Ridiculous on Blueridgenow
Wow, you're not very good at connecting dots are you? There were four police officers involved in this incident; one of them slowly killed a citizen who was in restraints and the other three stood by doing nothing to prevent the death of the citizen. All four of those police officers are representative of the city they work for. They are symbols. Symbols are what get praised or punished.....think of it as burning the US flag or not burning it.....the flag is a symbol just like those officers are. The ONLY thing that makes any sense in your comment is that you concede that the officers should have put the guy in the car once he was handcuffed. But they didn't do that.....the cops are the reason for the violence because they are symbols of the system that allowed the incident to occur. "Justification" is not part of the equation here; justification, as well as justice, was abandoned on the pavement where George Floyd died. You are not qualified to speak of justification if for no other reason than your hatred of your own country and your hatred of the basic tenets of your professed religion. Does paying lip service to American ideals and Christian fundamental concepts "justify" your blatant hypocrisy about those things? Sounds like you and the lawyer condone the rioters actions, looting and burning businesses in their community. I do not condone those officers actions, they handled the arrest wrong, causing the man's death is a tragedy that THEY will have to account for.
Stores, police cars targeted in Charlotte protest over death

One of those arrested and charged with failure to disperse was City Council member Braxton Winston. He was released several hours later.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney told WBTV in Charlotte that protests began peacefully and police were prepared to accommodate that, “and then it turned on us.”
“We have to have order, and we’re going to,” Putney said. “You should be proud of your CMPD police officers. They showed restraint, but they took care of business.”

But really, never mind the victim was black, and never mind he died. Isn't it blatently obvious unnecessary force/brutality to kneel on a guy's head on the concrete for 9 minutes when clearly he couldn't escape or cause harm. He's restrained, with five cops standing there. WTF might one think he's going to do? But this particular cop had gotten away with being ummmm "rough" all his career - why would he not think that's OK? The cop (and his accomplices) are directly guilty, sure, but it's the police culture there that let him get to that point.
BTW, most places, if you've got four guys in a car, three go in to rob a store and the fourth stays in the car, one guy in the store shoots the clerk who dies - who gets charged with murder? Yeppers - all of them, including the guy who waited in the car and had no idea anybody was going to be shot.
So what's the reason the other cops haven't been charged with something yet?

Pretty comprehensive analysis:
Peaceful protesters lament violence at George Floyd demonstrations, but understand the rage behind it
It even discusses the Boston Tea Party. Too many big words for 1 FAT CAN.

Big words from the article - "Though the message of peace succeeded locally, he said, it didn't get national news coverage. Instead, media focused on looting, burning buildings and vandals."
Columbia mayor declares curfew, tells outsiders to ‘take your asses home’
https://www.thestate.com/news/local/art ... 22546.html
“When protests go from being peaceful to being violent the situation changes ... and this won’t be tolerated,” he said. “We’re going to shut it down and shut it down right now.”
He added that any protesters who are not from Columbia should “take your asses home right now.”
Columbia police chief Skip Holbrook said four officers were injured, one seriously. A firefighter was also injured.
Holbrook said there were “multiple” arrests, including a suspect who allegedly fired a weapon.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said much of the violence was caused by people not from Columbia. He added that protesters also were injured, but mostly by rocks thrown by other protesters.
“They injured themselves,” he said, adding that violence occurred “after the good people left.”

I'm impressed that 1 FAT CAN is admitting that s/he's a selective racist that's so gullible that s/he falls for media sensationalism, and that s/he's not smart enough to predict that s/he'd get busted by her/his own choice.... In Minneapolis, Korey Dean Sr., 46, founder of the Man Up Club, which mentors young black males, said he helped former NBA player Royce White organize a demonstration Friday beginning at U.S. Bank Stadium.
A small group of pro basketball players and their friends, dressed in black, led a parade that quickly swelled in numbers.
Marchers knelt in silence at bridge crossings, prayed and delivered speeches during a 3-mile walk that ended long before curfew. "We started with 300, and we finished with 15,000 people," Dean said. "Not one fight, incident or argument. That is absolutely phenomenal."
Dean said the event was a statement of unity against injustice – a manifesto that "police brutality can no longer be tolerated in our city."
(1 FAT CAN's quote)
"But that's only by a small population in the Twin Cities, and in no way represents the people of goodwill who are out here," Dean said....

“The actions of the officers involved appear without merit, justification and displayed an absence of the very basic sense of compassion and empathy for the life of Mr. George Floyd.”
A part of the statement from the IACP states “law enforcement officers are trained to treat all individuals, whether they are a complainant, suspect or defendant, with dignity and respect. This is the bedrock principle behind the concepts of procedural justice and police legitimacy.
I assure you that those former officers in this incident do not represent the law enforcement officers serving in this community.
The solid majority of men and women in law enforcement are truly dedicated, mindful, law abiding, compassionate officers who do an excellent job on a daily basis.
Good article from Blueridgenow, read more at link.
