It’s the latest play weighed by the administration to stabilize the oil market against price shocks since the U.S. and Israel launched their joint operation in February. The maneuver could free up 140 million barrels of Iranian oil for global use, Bessent said.

“In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign,” he said on Fox Business.

Cheapest place we go to was $5.23 yesterday, up from 3.97 a couple of weeks ago when we topped up to go to Big Bear.

And you know, that's the same gas they already paid for and has no relationship to the sharp increase in oil reported because of the war. It's the usual "oh shit, somebody is bombing in Berzerkistan or there's a hurricane in the Gulf so probably oil prices will go up and in 3-4 months from now when that oil is finally refined, processed, turned into gasoline and trucked to California, it's going to be more expensive so I better jack up my price today."

And then when oil prices go down, they can't drop the gas price immediately because then they really do have expensive gas in their tank.
