The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Last I saw the Eagles live was "Hell Freezes Over" tour, back in 90-something. I had also seen them before, but that was a great one.
As I'm thinking, there was a series of really good concerts back then. The Who in Tampa (after having thought I'd seen them the last time in Toronto), Stones in Jax, Tina Turner and Plant/Page in Orlando, ZZ Topp, that I had first seen when they were just a little local South Texas band. I don't know why I don't go to concerts much anymore. Oh yeah, 'cuz big acts don't get within 3 or 4 hours of us. That and maybe because most of the ones I would go to are sadly going on to their rewards.

Twas out in the far off land of Colorado. Had eaten a bunch of tasty Colorado treats and smoked some of God's best green grass. It was late at night and and some friends and i were sitting around some candles passing round the music device, taking turns picking tunes. JTAs turn arrives, and what does he pick? Peaceful Easy feeling by the eagles. 10 minutes pass and I forget doing this. My song comes on and I get super fucking weirded out. I felt as if I were in a lodge weathering a winter storm on a prairie in Wyoming. I was sure of it. I was not feeling peaceful, nor easy, nor feeling much in general because my face was numb and I couldn't move anything cept fr my hand which was rhythmically shoving mints and popcorn into my mouth.

Only after peaceful easy feeling went off did I again regain my peace and easyness and feelings. It was good to be back in Colorado. Fuck Wyoming.
Another Coloradan, Hunter S. Thompson, could have written that.

I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project ....
And another:
Beach Haven ain’t my home!
I just cain’t pay this rent!
My money’s down the drain!
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black ones come to roam!
No, no, no! Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!

Try to get this out of your head:

My 1st ever concert was Sonny and Cher 1965. I'll never forget the heavy makeup over her pockmarked face

it was a learning experience

Of course this song could be sung by Trump alone. An ideal campaign song, and its recent usage makes it ideal for Trump's campaign in particular.

I copied your post to a right wing nut job forum. One of their more ignorant idiots seems to think that Mr. Lennon was one of them.

That was indeed the emphasis at the time, but what your right wing nut job doesn't get is that the song is about tactics, not ideology. So, it applies to destructive, violent haters like Trump regardless of left/right. Plus, it specifically endorses the leftwing, just not the tactically extreme. Anyone that can't see this and that is such a moron about what Lennon stood for, or that doesn't have the ball to admit it, is a mouth-drooling ignorant idiot.

Feel free to post this in reply on that forum.

My issue with Seth Milner ain't so much about ideology. "He" just makes excuses or says "he" was joking anytime "he" gets called on the facts or logic of the rightwing crap "he" posts, or "he" just runs away. Rather, it's with the matters of character, maturity, morality and personal responsibility that would make "him" a creep and coward whatever ideology "he" expressed.

Vrede too wrote:Agreed, what possible gain is there in routinely humiliating "him"self - not on politics, reasonable people differ - but on the basics of character: maturity, integrity, honesty, the ability to admit error, not whining, etc.? Maybe "he" is a masochist, nttawwt, and we're "his" enablers.
Clearly, something is seriously wrong with Seth Milner. It's not that "he" is a con, it's that "he" is incapable of adult discussion whatever "his" position on a given topic is.... "he" has proudly admitted being nothing more than a juvenile troll, not that it wasn't obvious before ...
