It's the biggest national stage remaining for Purdy and McCaffrey and a chance for Jackson to make up ground with another big game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17....
GoLamar&RavensGo! (but I won't cry if Purdy is the MVP)
Superbowl preview.

 , but I won't cry if the Lions or Eagles win the NFC.

The stupid Bears have a 3:25 kickoff on Sunday. At this point I'm rooting for a higher draft pick.

-4.0 vs Cardinals @Soldier Field, oh well.

I won't get to see Miami beat Dallas.

I will, go Fins (-1)! Better option than Jaguars @Buccs and the earlier Packers @Panthers.

McCaffrey, McCaffrey...who was it he used to play for? Oh yeah, the pathetic two-game winning Panthers, who traded him along with Greg Olsen and Cam.

Hey, we traded Greg Olsen first!

Got us a third round pick.

Good trade, drafted a DB named (Let's Go) Brandon Harden who didn't make the team

Go Bears!

Good point, but you didn't see the outside of the stadium and all the leftover legos.

Think it's free to stream for everyone (that cares), surprised it's only a 12 point spread. NBC is going ad free for the 4th quarter because.....reasons.

It's still putting lipstick on a turd.
But the broadcast will have a unique feature: no advertisements during the fourth quarter. Overall, NBC Sports said, there will be a 40% reduction in ads throughout the game, resulting in an estimated additional 12 minutes of game-related content.

The broadcast will acknowledge the elimination of ads at the top of the fourth quarter, and game stoppages will instead be filled by "special content takeovers and game features."

“We are proud to work with our partners at the NFL to present this first-of-its kind experience,” NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said in a release. “NBC Sports’ best-in-class NFL production, Peacock’s fan-friendly viewer experience, and this innovative advertising model will allow NFL fans an exciting new way to watch the game’s conclusion.”

To me, ads aren't that big a distraction in football games because there's no action missed. Nice that there won't be any action stoppage just for "TV time out" but face it, there's a lot of standing around in a live game. And if the ad is a bit creative, it's better than having sideline person (even Erin Anderson) ask cliche questions and get cliche answers from coaches. Erin: "Coach, you've had a rough half, down 30-0, having held the ball only 2 minutes and getting sacked 6 times on 6 straight plays. What do you plan to do the second half" Coach: "Well, we're going to have to tackle better and find a way to protect the QB..." ya think?

Read somewhere there's only about 15-20 minutes of actual action in a typical three hour game.

That sounds a bit low even to me, but with 60 minutes of official playing time, I could easily believe one hour out of the three. OTOH, it is nice to see a spectacular play re-run several times from different angles.

Got me curious.

Seems about right. A team typically runs about 65 plays a a game including special teams.

Two teams, 130 plays, figure about eight seconds a play.

130x8÷60= 17.33 minutes.
How Much Live Action Is There Throughout an NFL Game?
The numbers on how much live action takes place during an NFL game varies, but it is generally between 15 and 20 minutes, with 18 viewed as the average. Those 18 minutes are reasonably loaded with action, seeing well over 100 plays in total. This average has increased, with the Wall Street Journal reporting an average time of just 11 minutes in 2010.

GoCubsGo may have been generous:
"... generally between 15 and 20 minutes, with 18 viewed as the average."
"... in play for 12 minutes and 8 seconds."
"11 minutes of action"

It's
Bills (8-6, -12.0 :D ) > @LA Traitors (5-9)
No one will be watching the rout by the 4th quarter, anyhow. It's the advertisers that demanded no ads ;)

OK, but I'll stick with my NVHO that any time the clock is running should be considered "action". Further, any time the teams are in a ready formation, such as while signals are being called following a stopped clock should be counted. As a viewer, I'd also count as "action" extracurricular pushing/shoving/foulness, coaches yelling at refs, yada. But I see your point.

Substitute action for actual game play.

You could probably say the same thing for baseball, maybe even more so if you start from when the pitcher gets set on every pitch.

Soccer? Hmm, let's see  Oh, that's right, 90 minutes. Period. Time is added at the end of each half to cover stoppages like injuries.

Seems I was too boastful about soccer. However, it's still the "best", edging out Hockey and Basketball while trouncing Baseball and especially Football.

How much live action occurs in each sport? Ball in Play studies summarized

The author rants about commercials, explains his methodology in detail, trashes football especially and posts:

Sport / Clock Duration / Amt of Action / % of Action
Baseball 2hrs 56mins / 17mins, 58secs / 10.21%
Football 3hrs 10mins / 11mins / 5.79%
Soccer 1hr 55mins / 57.6mins / 50.09%
Basketball 2hrs 18mins / 48mins / 34.78%
Hockey 2hrs 20mins / 60mins / 42.86%

The chart also includes:
Amt of Commercial Time
Est # of 30-second commercials
# of commercials/hour

Idle thought: Football is the most violent sport by far. Is our viewing time filled with the other entertaining things that O Really lists because the alternative is losing all of these multi-millionaires to injury? They get broken enough as it is.

They do give you unsubscribe options, not to mention sending them to spam.

But I probably wouldn't either, especially for this game. Hard to believe the NFL would allow a playoff game to stream/subscribe only. Guess they're testing a pay for view future.
