The funniest part of this entire thread is how hard liberal work at TAKING MONEY THAT OTHERS WORKED FOR.
Also I buy and sell land in three states including WNC you folk laughing at the price of land are completely clueless. I just sold one just under 5 acres with an old barn and falling down double wide for $175,000.00 that was bought about 10 years ago for 90,000.00. Yup land prices are falling all over. Involved in negotiations on another less then 5 acres once the state easement is figured in for well over a million.

Cost basis, calculation of value, yada - totally irrevelant to the topic. Topic started out regarding estate tax - repeal it or not. The approximate number or percentage of citizens who are affected by the estate tax might be subject to some debate but in any case according to any source is a very low percentage. May be .02 - but even if it were 2%, that's still a low percentage of people, all of whom are wealthy. Doesn't matter if they're rich farmers or rich lawyers. It's a minor percentage of taxpayers, and they're all well off. On that part, there is no real argument.

So the proposal to repeal it is clearly to benefit the low percentage of people, all of whom are well off.

If you want to argue for repeal, that's fine - I don't have a problem with repeal; I don't have a problem with keeping it. I don't care because it isn't going to affect me or anybody I know personally.
