Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Young unwed mothers who keep popping babies out are highly unlikely to have worked a day in their lives, and I've read of cases where some young mothers are threatened with loss of welfare benefits if they get a job in an attempt to support themselves, no matter how meager the pay. No pro-rated benefits; either you're on welfare, or you're not. Funny, not ha-ha funny, how THAT works.
Thanks for the comments.

You might enjoy investigating the various types of programs that are generically classified as "welfare" and see the eligibility standards as well as the amount of benefit. SNAP (formerly called "food stamps") are not restricted to the unemployed. Neither is AFDC. But why is it people often pretend the "welfare queen" or the one with the "welfare Cadillac" are typical of benefit recipients? They exist, but are by no means the majority or typical.

Wow, what a nasty and sexist thing to say about your own mother, perhaps your wife, possibly daughter/s you have and all other mothers, whether or not they have ever had a paying job.
Here's How Much It Would Cost To Replace Your Mom

It's hard to argue with the fact that stay-at-home parenting is one of the most undervalued careers in the U.S.

Moms (and yes, some dads, too) do double duty as chauffeurs, cooks, psychologists, money managers and more, on average clocking a 94-hour work week, according to Salary.com.

Based on the 10 most time consuming tasks listed by more than 6,000 mothers, Salary.com estimated it would cost $113,586 a year to replace them....

"Just because someone doesn't earn a salary doesn't mean that they don't make significant contributions to the family that could be costly to replace," Marvin Feldman, president and CEO of the LIFE Foundation, said. "You must think about whether your spouse could afford to pay someone else to provide these services in your absence." ...

I had occasion a couple of years ago to look into eligibility and benefits of a variety of safety-net programs. My conclusion was that while there is some relatively small percentage of fraud (like also in doctors/hospital Medicare issues and corporate grant-cheating, etc.) that if a person finds themselves in a situation where their best choice to take care of themselves and their families comes through those programs, then they are indeed in bad shape. When somebody makes a comment like the author of Seth's welfare post, I usually just ask if they'd be willing to trade their life for the one they're denigrating. If welfare is so wonderful, why don't they quit their job and apply?

You just can't stop with your twisting and re-wording quotes, can you? Inasmuch as I spoke of unwed mothers, according to your "quote" of what I wrote, that makes us both bastards, doesn't it? What a nasty ... thing to say about your own mother.

I don't know, but it's said there's a road to hell and a stairway to heaven; that would explain that "narrow is the way" thing.

It used to be a road.
Now that hellish living and morals have proliferated, it's been widened to a highway; an interstate highway to accommodate the congestion.

Translation: The sins that you personally enjoy most aren't tolerated much any more.

Here in reality, violent crime has been dropping for decades. Pollution, callous safety risks, indentured servitude and other corporate sins are being addressed. Divorce rates have been dropping for decades.

Racism, sexism, homophobia and other hatreds common within living memory are tolerated far less and have been slowly diminishing. Which makes for "hellish living" for you, but I'll choose the ethics and morals of this generation over ANY previous.

An Assyrian clay tablet dating to around 2800 B.C. bears the inscription: “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book and the end of the world is evidently approaching.”

You know nothing of my "sins"; since you're a rabid atheist, tell us more of what you know about "sin".

Here in reality, violent crime has been dropping for decades.
What rock did you crawl out from under recently?

Pollution, callous safety risks, indentured servitude and other corporate sins are being addressed.
Must be a hell of a place where you live.

Divorce rates have been dropping for decades.
Think maybe it's because fewer are marrying, opting instead to live together? (I believe the old term was "shacking up")
The only reason homosexuals are determined to marry is the novelty of the idea; give 'em time.

Racism, sexism, homophobia and other hatreds common within living memory are tolerated far less and have been slowly diminishing.
About what I said above: "hellish living and morals". The populace has become complacent with what used to be considered immoral. Our lawmakers have thrown morals out the window and instituted penalties for any attempts to defy immorality; therefore, the attitudes are now "why fight it"? "Hatred, homophobia, racism" etc. are the fashionable buzz words of the decade.

Which makes for "hellish living" for you, but I'll choose the ethics and morals of this generation over ANY previous.
Not surprised. Everything that is immoral, indecent, and un-Godly has been embraced by liberals who are determined to destroy any notion of a moral or religious society or institution. Deny that if you want, but even I as a non-religious, non church-going everyday individual, has seen, and still sees these attitudes every day; (this forum is a prime example). On the street, in stores, banks, etc., people, men and women, use the filthiest language towards others regardless who is present, walk on the streets with their pants hanging off their ass, or women practically naked in their skimpy clothes; sexual predators are rampant, I could go on, but you already know all about those ethics and fine morals. Choose those if you like, I'll keep my own version of morals and ethics, thank you.

There's still the chance . . .

Compared to then, I too had rather be here in these times. My time here though, is but a whisper in time.
My only regret is seeing the earth and it's inhabitants sinking into a man-made pit.
