Congress to Investigate Benghazi 'Talking Points

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I was wondering...why isn't the title of this thread,"Republican Witch-Hunters Continue Harassment Over Nothing"? Oh yeah...started by "Reality."

O Really wrote:Not that Benghazi was 9/11, or bombing of the Cole, or the latest shooting at a school, but at almost every catastrophic even I can remember, there have been conflicting stories arising from the immediate and subsequent reports.
Shortly before WTC 7 collapsed, a BBC reporter announced that it had collapsed. There are two popular explanations:

1) A BBC reporter, in all the confusion of the day, mistook a report that it was expected to collapse with one that it HAD collapsed. And the reporter - from Britain - did not know all the buildings on the New York skyline, let alone from from two miles away.

2) Before 9/11 the White House sent out a show guide of all the events that would happen that day, to news services in other countries. All those international news services have kept what would be the biggest news story in the world a secret, because they're all in on The Conspiracy. (In addition to the thousands of other people needed for The Conspiracy.) The BBC reporter's mistake was in announcing the collapse too early.

To this day the Alex Jones crowd insists that #2 is the rational explanation. The reporter could not possibly have made a mistake during all the confusion and trauma of 9/11.

And Hanlon’s Razor.

From Yuval Levin, a member of member Bush II's White House domestic policy staff. (Link)
I’ll always remember riding into work on the train day after day when I was a (very) junior staffer in Newt Gingrich’s Speaker’s Office in 1998 and reading in the paper about how the Republican leadership in Congress was setting traps for Bill Clinton and playing some ingenious chess game with the impeachment process, and then arriving at work and finding that no one had any idea how things had gotten where they had or what would happen next.

It was much the same working in the White House: All the various conspiracy theories (good and bad) were utterly laughable. Governing is terribly complicated and the people doing it, while often very intelligent, could never hope to master anything close to the command of contingency necessary to carry off any kind of conspiracy.
[...]
I find the Washington version of Hanlon’s Razor works better to explain things: Never attribute to cunning what can be adequately explained by incompetence.

So, no quotes from Clapper to back up your claim. Kind of makes your "Damn, Stinger is so dumb or in denial with his head is so far up his a-- he can't see a thing" look really stupid, doesn't it?

Translation: "I got bupkis."

I'll accept it when you post some proof.

Here's an example. Girl gets shot on a school bus in Miami. First reports go something like these...

http://www.ibtimes.com/13-year-old-girl ... bus-893912

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11 ... l-bus?lite

Later reports have a different angle...
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/22/us/fl ... .html?_r=0

Obviously the police were in cahoots with the liberal media to cover up the apparent fact that the shooting was an accident. At least the defendant doesn't seem to be claiming to be standing his ground. Too bad he's not in NC, he could use the "oops" defence.

That story is deceptively edited. It traces back to a CBS story:
CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to "al Qaeda" and "terrorism" from the unclassified talking points given to Ambassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack - with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes.
[...]
However, an intelligence source tells CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan the links to al Qaeda were deemed too "tenuous" to make public, because there was not strong confidence in the person providing the intelligence.
[...]
An intelligence source says the talking points were passed from the CIA to the DNI, where the substantive edits were made, and then to FBI, which made more edits as part of "standard procedure."
[...]
"The points were not, as has been insinuated by some, edited to minimize the role of extremists, diminish terrorist affiliations, or play down that this was an attack," the official tells CBS News, adding that there were "legitimate intelligence and legal issues to consider, as is almost always the case when explaining classified assessments publicly."

Uh, you're missing the quote from last week.

You have what he said this week. To claim that he changed his story, you have to quote what he said first.

Sorry you weren't smart enough to figure that part out. Probably a defective logic gene. You should get a genetic profile just to make sure.

Well, when you see the source is a blog that has "tea party" in its URL, you know better than to even bother with clicking on it. It's one of those "Just post it. Those fools will believe anything." posts.

It must be true. It's on the internet.

Well, at least Soupy tried.

This is a great source for credible information, Stupy. They even have an article about you.

Still nothing, huh? No change of story. No nothing.

Just like I have no cure for the chronic cut-and-run, cowardly excuse-maker.

Run on, Stupy.
