The Global Warming thread.

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

You're a bigoted, homophobic, racist, misogynistic and goddamned stupid trash-bin fire of a human being capable only of mindlessly parroting Tea Party & Donald Trump claims.

Countries With Pro-Nuclear Agenda Making Slower Progress On Climate Change

... The authors of the study note that “it’s difficult to show a causal link” between the two factors, but nevertheless “the study casts significant doubts on nuclear energy as the answer to combating climate change.”

... The study divided European countries into three roughly equal size groups:

Group 1: No nuclear energy (such as Denmark, Ireland, and Norway)
Group 2: Existing nuclear commitments but with plans to decommission (e.g. Germany, Netherlands and Sweden)
Group 3: Plans to maintain or expand nuclear capacity (eg Bulgaria, Hungary, and the UK)

The resulting analysis found that countries in Group 1 had reduced their emissions by an average of 6% since 2005, and increased their renewable energy sources to 26%. Countries in Group 2 did even better, reducing emissions by 11% and growing renewable energy to 19%. Group 3 countries, however, only managed a 16% renewables share, and average emissions actually increased by 3%....

Barack Obama 'deliberately snubbed' by Chinese in chaotic arrival at G20

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/ ... b-gdnworld
China’s leaders have been accused of delivering a calculated diplomatic snub to Barack Obama after the US president was not provided with a staircase to leave his plane during his chaotic arrival in Hangzhou before the start of the G20.
Obama's response:
Obama suggested his Chinese hosts might have found the size of the US delegation “a little overwhelming”.

“We’ve got a lot of planes, a lot of helicopters, a lot of cars and a lot of guys. If you are a host country, sometimes it may feel a little bit much.”

Even more so when he jumped down without the staircase, did a cartwheel and finished with an obscene Chinese hand gesture flourish.

Looks like we can kiss our asses goodbye. "Vote Trump" it's not like it matters anyway.

I've done a bit, but I will die feeling guilty towards my niece and nephew and all the other kids because I didn't do more.

Here's a better idea.

Add your name: Tell God to halt the changing climate and stop screwing with the world's changing weather patterns or face complete censure and all monetary support. Humans will move to other planets and spend their money there.

North American Moose Struggling for Survival

Not because of habitat loss or hunting. Rather, the cause is heat stress and warmer winters increasing tick populations.

Sad, there are few things more thrilling than coming across a moose in the wild.

"Moose calf mortality is high, too. In New Hampshire, 75 percent of moose calves died from ticks over the winter of 2015-2016, while Maine's mortality rate was 60 percent.

Parasites, including brainworms (Parelaphostrogylus tenuis), are also taking a toll. Liver flukes (Fascioloides magna) and tapeworms have also been found in necropsies of moose in Minnesota. The tapeworms, which are carried by wolves, can fatally clog the lungs of a moose.
"

If Maine has such a higher population of moose, it seems to me that rather than issue hunting licenses, a program to relocate some to other states that are losing theirs would be a viable choice. I suppose though the NRA or the League of Women Hunters would vehemently oppose that notion.

Pence breaks with Trump, says humans affect climate change

I'm thinking there just may be a light at the end of the tunnel. Trump defeats Hillary, gets bored with the job, caught sniffing coke, or is prosecuted for some who knows what'nall reasons, and Pence assumes the presidency . . . entirely possible!

That would not necessarily be an improvement. Pence looks sane and rational only in comparison. Taken alone, with his record in Indiana, he's much a far-right extremist.

How can he break with Trump? During the debate Trump claimed he "never said that."
