Inasmuch as we mostly fished for big game, I couldn't see a body getting locked up with more time (in some states) for carrying
a lousy 'dime bag' than what he would have gotten for armed robbery.

I was only trying in a slightly roundabout way, to see if Leo Lyons is a police officer, current, former, or retired.

I have since gone through as much of the LEO thread as I could stand... which was educational in certain ways.

And so I'm guessing Leo Lyons is indeed a police officer of some sort.

the majority of the current members here were members of the local newspaper's forum.
Many were getting their legs striped for personal attacks and language, of which I was guilty as well,
which eventually led to the disbandment of the forum
altogether and Banni's creation of a "have at it" forum. So, here we are, "having at it",
minus a large number of former members whose names are still on the payroll membership roll.

Banni seems to be hanging out at LNF a lot, under the handle "Atreyu". I did get a response from him here via email about another concern.

And it was via LNF that I even found BRD. I had noticed that Billy.Pilgrim had disappeared from LNF, so I did some Googling of his handle a few years ago and found him here. And LNF has gone through some gyrations over the years, but seems to be OK now. And my journey across the internets to LNF is a whole nother story.

I first started posting on the Democracy Forums, which had a good reasonable admin and user mix. Some left, some right, but generally not too nutso. Then whoever was providing the platform pulled the plug and people migrated to Liberty Network Forums (LNF) which at the time had an also reasonable administration. Then the admin there died and all hell broke loose. People were floundering to find an alternative. Someone started up a new Democracy Forum but it's been quiescent for a few years now. Then Solar/Walks grabbed the LNF handle and proceeded to destroy whatever genteel atmosphere existed. Finally Fiddler stepped in and created a new version, which can be found at:

I can't say it's perfect but Fiddler has the proper hands-off approach. Yes, there are extreme right wingers, but no left wingers there as extremely psychotic as Vrede here. And some have been banned, most noticeably a right wing nutjob known as D-man.

I've been involved with on-line discussion/debating forums since the 1980's. As one early guru once advised me, "Don't take it too seriously, it's all just 1's and 0's". Good advice.
