... Cawthorn was likely badly trying to make a point that America’s founders would have a difficult time recognizing and coming to terms with new American values and events he holds dear — like an insurrection in the Capitol, and the merging of church and state.
So Cawthorn haters let him have it.
The founding fathers spoke and wrote beautifully. They were able to think and reason. And they believed in the separation of church and state. They would be horrified by you.
The Founding Fathers would probably be scared of the sound of toilets flushing, who cares what they think

Nah man, Ben Franklin would discover Pornhub and MDMA immediately. He’d be dead in a month, but what a month it would be for him.
Didn't it take like 47 seconds to reload a single-shot musket in the 18th century? Let's take them to a gun show lol

Lol I'm glad they wouldn't recognize the US.
Back then, black folks were enslaved. Women couldn't vote either.
To hell with that.
And I'm pretty sure they'd be horrified of Donald Trump as well.
... What they're saying: "The coordinated and violent January 6 attack on the United States Capitol in an effort to prevent Congress from certifying the presidential vote was an insurrection against the United States," Ron Fein, Legal Director of Free Speech For People, said in a statement.
"The Constitution disqualifies from public office any elected officials who aided that insurrection," he continued....
A guess: They know that the suit will go nowhere unless MadCaw is criminally charged. This is about their political goals, not legal ones.
Devil's advocate:
Who does MadCaw hurt more - Dems or Repugs?
Which is worse - Repug NC13 repped by ineffective wingnut MadCaw or by a competent Repug that will vote the same way?
That doesn't mean that I oppose Free Speech For People. Their political goals may be righteous.
Any Repug is going to vote with the rest of the Repugs most all the time. So potential voting isn't really the issue that would make the difference to me in ousting Cawthorne. Cawthorne is a clown, an embarrassment, a totally unqualified bad joke along the lines of Bimbeort who makes not only himself but WNC laughingstocks. He doesn't even try to "do" anything. But a working Congressman - even if s/he's trumpish - who makes an effort to network, to make allies, and gain a little respect could get a lot done for the District even if s/he votes mostly with the loons.
My Congressman, Mike Levin, you've probably never heard of. He came to office in the 2018 elections. But in the time he's been there, he's been primary sponsor of 5 bills that were enacted:
H.R. 2523: THRIVE Act
H.R. 7105 (116th): Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020
H.R. 6767 (116th): To amend the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to provide for an extension of lease protections for servicemembers under stop movement orders in response to a local, national, …
H.R. 4625 (116th): Protect the GI Bill Act
H.R. 2326 (116th): Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William “Bill” Mulder (Ret.) Transition Improvement Act of 2019
Notice a military leaning? Might that be because the huge Camp Pendleton is in his district, and a lot of military-related or retired people?
He's also introduced, but not yet passed:
H.R. 6227: Military Dependents School Meal Eligibility Act of 2021
H.R. 6112: MOVE Act
H.R. 5752: Emergency Relief for Servicemembers Act
H.R. 5401: Nuclear Waste Task Force Act of 2021
H.R. 5255: To amend section 7014 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 …
H.R. 4772: Mark O’Brien VA Clothing Allowance Improvement Act
H.R. 4712: Desalination Development Act
So what has Cawthorne claimed to have introduced? None of which have come anywhere close to passing and none would have helped WNC anyway.
