Hilarious that 1 FAT CAN comes close to getting it correct then spoils it with illiterate, partisan stupidity. It could be that BRN advertisers didn't want to be associated with bickering lefties AND the bickering cons that were also being banned but 1 FAT CAN is too thick to absorb.

Once again, cretin, no matter how desperately you cling to your delusions, there was no shame in getting banned from BRN, as the linked thread that you're cowering from amply demonstrates.

Of course, this idiotic tangent is all just 1 FAT CAN's wimpy deflection from what a meek, compliant pussy s/he is being on CPF, which ironically maker her/him even more of a pussy.

I got banned from that shitty forum once; don't even remember what it was for. I think I insulted someone or maybe insulted everyone in general. I got over it. I remember insulting John Fogle on a regular basis; that bastard was nutty as twelve cat fans.

Oh yeah, I remember those horrible editorials he wrote.

Reminds me of the material I seen on CPF's blog site or whatever it was they were trying to pass off as real news.

Heh, you know. Fogle was criminally stupid. I used to daydream about soaking his yard with gasoline some night and setting it on fire and instead of running away standing there and laughing.

Oh yeah, I remember Foghorn Fogle. Among the other delights in his overfilled bag of stupidity was a firm belief that the slaves were all shiny happy creatures who just loved their lives and spent their days singing and eating watermelon.

Vox/Bungalow Bill really chewed him up.

I remember making him livid by referring to "Distinguished Professor William Ayers" over a few days. I finally clued him in that "Distinguished Professor" is an actual college-conferred title not my compliment. He begrudgingly apologized to me for that one because he'd gotten so extreme over it. Dufus.

He was so slow-witted and such an easy target. Geez, when you've already got a column, stay far away from the peanut gallery. It's guaranteed to make you look worse, never better.

What forum?
It's been years since I checked, but they didn't have a forum after the massacre that led to BRD 7.5 years ago. Just NSAbook posts under articles and it looks like they even took that away at some point.

There used to be mugshots in post offices; FBI mugshots, big boy stuff. I never notice them these days when I am in a post office. I guess they took them down due to a good many of those in the mug shots work at the post office. Nobody thinks to look for them there.

Well, maybe up in Placer County. Maybe they have Solar's mugshot in the local paper up there?

It was slightly interesting because it's so strange to see public photos of people who probably, save for a few who smile for the camera, are hating their lives at the moment the camera clicked. Kind of strikes me like the old stockades that used to be legal here in America....

Those are just the first page of results where the text or caption contains the exact phrase "booking photo". There are certainly others. Opps.

Could be that the HT-N does it more. It's a dying newspaper, as many in small cities are. It kinda sucked even before that, so it’s not something we need pointed out to us. We live with it, or read the Asheville, Charlotte or Raleigh papers, instead.

It’s nonsensical to compare the solidly urbanized Bay Area with largely rural WNC, anyhow. For example, it’s pretty useless to mention that the murder and violent crime rates per 100K people for Alameda County are 7 and 629 compared to 3 and 121 for Henderson County, NC.

Both have other pluses and minuses, as I know from living in both.

The HT-N’s reporters have been slashed to near zero, and it probably takes some clerk just a few clicks to fill up space with electronically accessed and titillating mug shots. However, that seems to be a matter of scale rather than ethics, as the East Bay Times mug shots demonstrate.
Ulysses wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2020 2:17 amWell, OK then.

So that San Diego publication has ONE mug shot per week. The Blue Ridge Now website publishes scores of mug shots day in, day out.

And I still maintain until now I have known of no California newspaper that publishes mug shots. Now I know there is at least one newspaper/website that publishes mug shots, but at but a fraction of the volume that BRN does.

The San Diego paper claims it publishes one mug shot a week of dangerous persons in the interest of public safety. I wonder what the justification on BRN is of publishing the mug shots of what look to be like petty thieves, or unfortunates whose threat to public safety was to violate probation on misdemeanor charges.

But who knows, maybe it will catch on. Maybe the new America under Trump will bring back stockades too.
Where are these "scores of mug shots day in, day out"? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place but I only found this page: Crime
17 mug shots over 3 1/2 months. I could be wrong, but I don't think we have anywhere near "scores of" arrestees daily to take pics of here. 14,600 (40 x 365) or more for a retiree county with only 117K people seems like a lot, especially now that neoplacebo moved away ;) .

Several of the free newspapers do it here. DUIs too. Too bad Matt's daddy got him off before the pictures were taken.

Thank you. I'm pretty sure that I've seen mug shots in newspapers my entire life and everywhere I've lived, including the East Bay, but I figured that it would only be fair to Ulysses to check and see if current East Bay papers were the exception. We'll see what he says now.

Doesn't matter to me whether any or all papers publish any or all mug shots, although it does seem a bit of a waste to use space on petty crime pics. But maybe the Hendersonville paper still has some version of what used to be called the "Crime beat" that had a reporter assigned to collect and report on arrests. There are several places in a newspaper that I just glide right by, and wouldn't know much about their content. Obits, weddings (in those papers that still carry them), real estate (except for occasional shock value), etc.

On the other hand, I don't really see the problem with using a mug shot in the report. Sometimes it can even bring back some fading fame...

Most of those free papers don't look worth picking up. I wouldn't have known except that my son used to write for one of them.

So much for the free papers. I almost forgot, Gannett's pnj does mug shots.

The "Corona virus [sic]" is nothing to sneeze at ( ), but its serious illness rate for the infected is around 10% and its mortality is around 2%. Pretty crappy "weapon" if you ask me.

"HIV"? Why would anyone splice a disease that we've virtually ended deaths from?

Even by their own wingnutty "logic", they are still fucking dumb-asses.
